What time would you guys recommend making an ADR to see a 9pm illuminations show?

We had an 8PM back in December and it was the perfect time for us to view Illuminations (which BTW was spectacular)

We have been several times and 7:30pm always works out perfect for us. Twice we have been able to sit on the patio with a perfect view.

Thanks for your replys, does anyone ever feel rushed to by the staff to leave before illuminations starts? I am worried if I make too early of an ADR that I will be rushed.

No, the wait staff at R&C has the whole Illuminations thing down pat. They don't even try and rush you out.

Just try and make your reservation for 1-1/2 hours before Illuminations starts, and when you check in for your reservation, ask to be seated on the patio. But even if you don't get to sit on the patio, R&C has a special viewing area that you'll be able to watch from.

We have never felt rushed. The servers that we have had have been great. Our servers have always tried to pace the meal in associated with Illiuminations. Last time, our served took our dessert orders just before Illuminations and told us that he would wait until it was over to deliver them. Our desserts arrived just as it ended. Perfect timing.

Adhere to the 1 1/2 hour suggestion above and you should be alright. In talking to the CMs, I was told they are only supposed to let a party sit at a table for 2 hours. So just make sure you are in that window and everything will work out.

Our last ADR was at 7:20, and we had to wait a bit for a table (probably 20 mins), we got a patio seat without thinking to ask, and our server was wonderful! We were encouraged to still be there for Illuminations, and now I am spoiled...so the R&C is a "must do" from now on!

I just made ADR for 7:30 in Aug. I don't think we will want to eat outside on the patio in Aug, and we are a party of 7. We have 5 kids and now I am thinking that they will not last the 1 1/2 hours until Illuminations. DD4 and DS6 do great in sit down restaurants, but after a full hour they get a bit restless. Do you think if we were to finish at @8:30-8:45, we would be allowed to go out to patio and wait for Illuminations? I remember our meals taking a long time the last two years for the free dining, but I am assuming that since we no longer get appetizer (we probably would not order one, either) that we would get done quicker. :confused3

The nice thing about Rose and Crown is that they will let you sit down order and eat your entree, than go out to the balcony and watch fireworks and comeback and eat your dessert.

Honestly, the chances of you getting a table with a good view of the fireworks is very slim. So what you do is go take your table wherever it may be tell your waitstaff you want to watch illuminations and they will take you out to the patio where each waiter/waitress have table reserved for you. Worked perfectly for us. Illuminations is 13 min long so it is a good system. Don't worry about trying to get a table where you can see Illuminations from there as the view will be much better down on the patio anyway.

if you are seated inside at firework time, you will only be taken to a table outside if its on a night where it has rained or rain has been anticipated. usually the viewing area is just a standing only section down the side near where the beer garden is.
on dry nights the lower patio is used for dining, however this is better for you as it means there are about twice as many table with firework viewing and if u got one of these tables you wouldnt have to go anywhere to see the fireworks :thumbsup2
