Hello!
I fear I am too late to book anything in the MK for the day we are going to MNSSHP (I will still try, but I wanted to have backup's in place!). Where else do you suggest to have nice sit down family dinner prior to MNSSHP AND what time would you make your ADRs for.

Thanks for any suggestions!
:thanks:

Well, it would probably depend on when you are going and when you wanted to eat. You might want to try LTT for dinner for the character experience... not sure about CP... if you can't get dinner, perhaps a late lunch at those? I found that the lunch was pretty easy to get even though dinners were completely booked the night I'm going.

As an alternative, you could go to one of the nearby MK resorts. GFCafe, Kona, WCC, etc...

Best of luck! :wizard:

I'm going to be attending my first MNSSHP mid-October, and got an ADR @ Kona Cafe for 5 p.m. that day -- party starts at 7:00.

We are going to MNSSHP on the 15th and everything is sold out. I tried yesterday to change. I have a 4:25 adr at LTT but I fear it's too early now since I don't want to buy a regular park ticket for that day. No times for CRT, CP. I did get a 6:25 for Tony's every other time was gone.

But it started me thinking...........................if you can't get into a sit down park restaurant start trying the monorail restaurants. So many wonderful choices and it wouldn't be hassel at all!

Good luck!

I think your chances of getting anything inside MK (with the possible exception of Tony's) directly before the party is slim. The character meals in the monorail resorts fill up too but the non character meals in the resorts (like Kona) are generally easier. You won't know until you call Disney Dining, you might luck out and get a reservation someone else just cancelled. As the other poster stated, you might be able to get a late lunch at CP but LTT does not have characters at lunch so if you want a character meal, lunch there is out. You could always try something at another resort, like Boma or Cape May then take a bus to the MK. I would suggest an early dinner, like 4:00 or 4:30. MK really begins to thin out by about 5:00 or 6:00 and even though the party does not technically start until 7:00, non party goers have to exit the park by 6:00. Getting there about 6:00 can give you some time to get in, look at the schedule, maybe ride something and then be all ready to go when 7:00 actually rolls around. Our routine the last two years for MNSSHP was to have a nice, late character breakfast, then cs lunch later in the day at our resort while we rested. Its a long night and we didn't want to get tired out too early.

I called WDW Dining today because I wanted to book Ohana for a different night. Since I was on the phone with the CM and he was VERY nice I decided to ask him about it. He checked with LTT and found a 4:30PM opening. I booked it immediately thinking I could change it after I spoke with my sounding board (all of you! :teeth: ). Is that too early? I asked him if we would get kicked out of the park after we finished since it won't be 7pm yet. He laughed and said "No, they won't kick you out of the park". Soooooo - what do you all think...should I keep it or try for a resort restaurant on the monarail system...

TIA!

Actually, you can start entering the park at 4pm with just the hard ticket (you don't need to waste a days admission). We are heading to the park at 4 to get our wrist bands (lines entering will get longer the closer to 7 you get) and then heading to the Grand Floridian Cafe for our 5pm ADR (mmmmmmmmm...chocolate fondue :stir: ) then back to MK for a wonderful scary night pirate:

I had an ADR for a table for 8 for the party night of the 24th. The ADR was for the Plaza restraurant. I cancelled that one yesterday and I booked a table for 8 for Kona Cafe for Oct. 24th yesterday and had no problem at all. We'll just hop the monorail when we get done and head to the MK.

Last October we were able to enter with our MNSSHP ticket just after 3pm. They were directing party-goers to the turnstiles on the far left and had CM's waiting inside the gates with wristbands and treat bags. We were planning to enter with our AP's, but quick and got out our MNSSHP tickets instead. I really think anyone would be okay to enter with party tickets for ADR's as early as 3pm.

Cool! :thumbsup2 Then I am definitely keeping our ADR at LTT for 4:30 PM! Thanks to everyone who has responded! :thanks:

You can always check back later too.
Last year we had MNSSHP tickets for Halloween night -- and ADRs at LTT for a great time.
I figured out a week or so in advance wecould not make the dinner at LTT. I called in and cancelled the LTT ADR and KNEW I made someone's day!! :teeth:

Yep - we got into the park at 4:00 p.m. last year for the party (thanks to these boards!) - didn't have to waste a day ticket!!!

4:30 is perfect. As others have stated, you won't need to worry about getting in with only your MNSSHP ticket after 4:00 as well. You will probably be done with dinner by 6:00 and you can start riding things or whatever. By then crowds will be down as only party guests will be there and many of them won't have arrived yet. For what you are paying for the party, its a shame to waste one minute after 7:00 eating. We always stay until they kick us out at midnight and would stay longer if we could! Have a great time and congrats on snagging that ADR!

THANK YOU! You just wrote exactly what I needed to hear! Positive reinforcements do wonders for me! :teeth: Now I know that this is a good thing and I can move on...finally! DH is getting pretty sick of me whining about not knowing what I am doing here! I really appreciate everyone's help and information. Next time I will have to book sooner!

THANK YOU AGAIN!

Just a note of caution, I've been reading you may not be able to get in before 5pm. When the park closed at 6, they let in at 4. MK is closing at 7 (it seems) w/o the hour of prep time for the party. A CM told some dis'er that they could get in at 5pm with the ticket. If the closing time didn't change by 1 hour, I would feel more certain about the 4pm time entry.

Yes, I noticed that the hours are 7:00 for MVMCP as well which sort of surprised me (we have a 4:30 ADR for Tony's the night we attend that) since its always been closing at 6:00 for that and MNSSHP. But I still cannot imagine that they won't let people in early since the park is officially opened. I could see them making people now use up a day on their park hopper if you try to get there early however. As usual, the lack of a concrete policy on Disney's policy makes things confusing!

We had a 4:30 a couple of years ago for LTT (on MNSSHP night)and it was perfect. We had a great meal and didn't feel rushed. Our server gave us our bracelets and once we left the resturant we headed over to tomorrowland (where they make you go until they are ready for the party to start) It was wonderful!

With that said..it's prob too late to book LTT but I would still try. Make sure you tell them that you will be attending MNSSHP that night. That will help the find something for you. If not LTT then maybe an early dinner at one of the monorail resorts.

Have a great trip!!

I feel so fortunate! At the time I wrote this post I had no ADR for that day. I was calling WDW Dining to book Ohana for another night and got a really great CM. I asked him to check into LTT for our night at MNSSHP (Oct. 23) and it popped up that they had ONE slot open for the night at 4:30 PM. I booked it immediately thinking I can always cancel - but it won't be there if I call back later. Someone else must have canceled just before I called. Luck of the draw!

Thank you all so much for your feedback. This is really going to make MNSSHP more special for my family! We can't wait!
