ADR for Blue Bayou

I've never done any of the sit-down restaurants at Disneyland, but my Dad will be visiting me in LA the week before Thanksgiving, and I thought it would be fun to take him to Blue Bayou. How far in advance should (or when can) I make reservations for lunch or dinner? We're planning on going the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. Thanks for your help!

The Blue Bayou is one of the few DLR venues where a reservation is highly recommended because they often turn away walk-ups. In most cases, you get pretty good reservations times with less than a week to go. However, given that you're going during a fairly popular time, I would make a reservation as soon as you know when you want to eat. As the PPs said, reservations can be made up to 60 days in advance online or over the phone.

I personally like lunch time; slightly lighter fare, but still all of the ambiance. Also, if you want the Monte Cristo sandwich, it's only available at lunch. I generally make a reservation for 11:30 am (which is when they typically open for the day) and have had very good luck getting a waterside table.

Due to the popular time of year you are going, booking at 60 days would be a smart thing to do. I booked Blue Bayou last year for Thanksgiving lunch 45 days out which I was surprised I could get a ressie as I had booked it so late. The day of my reservation they were turning down people the entire day for ressies as they were booked solid. So making reservations in advance is advisable, particularly if you are going during a popular time of the year.

Not taking walk-ups and/or being fully booked is not uncommon throughout the year, especially on weekends. I've eaten at BB several times and most of the time the CMs were not taking walk-ups or taking reservations for later in the day. There have a few times when the CM said to catch back later in the day to see if there have been any openings, but that's about it. So, in general, I would say that if you want to eat at the Blue Bayou, make a reservation regardless of when you're going.

I always make my BB reservations at least 45 days out. However, since I usually don't really know when I want to eat there until we arrive at the parks, I've often changed my reservation a day or two before. This has been in late August and I've always been able to do it and would seem to indicate they have availability that late. But I always have my original as a backup, just in case.
