My 180 day ADR deadline is coming up soon. We probably will be a party of 6, but one is having scheduling problems and doesn't know yet if he will be able to join us on the trip.

Now I'm not sure if I should book for 6 and then just drop 1 seat when it's sure he won't join or should I book 5 and then later try to add a seat? Or doesn't make it a difference really?

One of the restaurants I want to book is Victoria & Albert's which has a cancelation policy. Any one knows how we would be affected by this?

Definately book for the 6 people. It is easier to take away a person and get seated then it is to add an additional person and get seated. Always book for the higher number of people.

Also, from what I have learned here, most places will wave the no show fee if the majority of your group shows up. Which also means there is a small chance you would have to pay it.

The best thing is to make them for 6 and then drop 1 if necessary.

It is often a BIG problem to add someone to a reservation. It can be done, but it rare and an issue.

Of course understand that if you book a meal that requires a CC hold or payment that you have to cancel within the policy in order to get reimbursment.

But it is still easier this way.

I am assuming you will know more than 24-48 hours ahead whether or not the sixth person will be coming. Just call V&A and drop them from the reservation when you know for sure.
