I wanted to eat dinner the first night of my vacation in MK, I just did my ADRs this past week and reserved Tony's Town Square, but after reading so many bad reviews, I'm debating switching to another MK restaurant for that night, does anyone have any good things to say about Tony's or any suggestions for another restaurant in the park? Thanks so much!

Sorry, no good things to say about Tony's. I recommend just about any of the other restaurants. Or just go with CS (CHH, Cosmic Ray's or Pecos Bills). Our favourite place is LTT, but some folks don't like the family style meal. We also like Crystal Palace, but some don't like character meals or buffets. We don't like the Plaza Restaurant because if we wanted sandwiches we can get them cheaper and/or faster elsewhere. But others like it because it's probably cheaper than the other TS places in MK.

So you have lots of other choices - just pick the one that appeals to you.

I second LTT. If you like family style this is the place to go. It was one of our favorite meals when we went in Sept. :thumbsup2

We are one of the very few families that actually likes Tony's. We are planning on eating there for lunch one day on our upcoming trip. No it is not a 5 star meal, but we think it is tasty. To each his own, what one person will like 5 others won't, but then again I can say that about any review. We really like how it is themed after Lady and the Tramp, which is one of my favorite Disney classics, and the service has always been very good. I have read where many DISers have compared it to an Olive Garden, but then again we like the Olive Garden. Not sure if I was much help, but good luck deciding.

I agree. Tony's is ok. Not gourmet but not terrible either.

LTT is another option, but I prefer lunch as there are more options than dinner, I don't care for the Thanksgiving-type food.

I was checking out LTT too, I'm glad to hear good reviews- I'm still undecided, food is always the biggest decision on any WDW trip!

You guys are not alone. Our family enjoys going to Tony's and for my DD, Tony's is a must. It's not a 5 star but, for us, you get your money's worth and the service has always been great! Years ago, we ate at LTT and we enjoyed our meal there too. I think reviews are good, but ultimately, I think trying the restaurant once to see for yourself is best. For example, we tried 50's Prime in HS and I did not care for it at all while others rave about it. We just don't go there anymore. So, no, you might not like it, but what if you do? You won't know unless you give it a go.

We are going to the MK on our first night too, and I decided to make a rez at Kona Cafe - it's an easy hop and a nice break. Any of the three monorail resorts are a good option for TS when visiting the MK.

As far as I gather from all I've read, it looks like this is not gourmet, its nothing to write home about, it's like fast food Italian or counter service quality for sit down prices, olive garden whatever. They're not back in the kitchen making sauce all day from scratch or baking great fresh bread. It's just spaghetti. You can eat there for an easy in the park sit down rest/meal OR my choice take the mono to a deluxe and have a meal at one of the many better then Tony's restaurants and they'll still be close enough that it doesn't take up too much time~ I haven't ate there before but I've read enough.

We've never tried Tony's but we're going to give it a try for lunch on our upcoming trip. Everyone has a different persepctive of good and bad and unless you try it for yourself you won't know, so we would try everything at least once. If you decide to switch, our favorite meal for our very first night is Chef Mickey's dinner. The food is fine, but the atmosphere is fabulous and we feel it really kick starts the vacation (I wouldn't want to go on any other night, though). And you can walk there from MK. Another suggestion would be 'Ohana at the Poly.

Put me down for another one who says Tony's is not "gross". It's restaurant italian food. Is it gourmet? No. But it's not disgusting, all three of us who ate there enjoyed our lunch, and we're eating lunch there again in six weeks.
