Hi, myself, my wife, and son will be going to WDW in April. My mother will also be going but she will be on a different reservation.

We did a DVC point rental, and she has decided to join us but has initiated a DVC point rental request that will not be complete by the time 180 days hits on Oct 3. However, she has booked a room-only reservation for the same dates directly through Dis just in case the rental doesn't work.

Question:

When booking ADR, can we book a table for 4 even though diners will be on different reservation numbers? Are we able to just make it easy by booking a reservation for 4 even though there's only 3 people in our room?

If that won't work, and we book a reservation for 4 people with our 2 reservation numbers (ours and her Dis reservation), and her rental comes through and she gets a new reservation number, can we call up later and cancel her seat under the old res number and put it under the new one for reach ADR before cancelling her DIS room reservation?

Yup! That should be fine! My husband and I are staying at an onsite resort and have his parents joining us for dinner one night. I had no problem booking a table for 4. And unless you're doing a prepaid meal like CRT, you won't have to pay upfront. Just have your mother along when you show up for your adr. No need to worry about having different reservations!!

Make one reservation for the entire group since you want to sit together.

Dining reservations are not linked to the resort reservation so there is no need to make any changes even if she gets the DVC rental. Cancelling a resort reservation will NOT cancel any dining reservations.
