Hi, my reservation day is coming up on the 8th. I last did this in 2017, so I'm a bit rusty. On that morning, when reservations open up, is it advisable to "move fast" in doing the reservations? Like you only have a certain timeframe in which to do it all before all the popular places are gone? I know I read that some people continue to tweak and work on their reservations on and off, after the fact. I'm in the Midwest, so I'm planning to jump online right at 5 AM that day. I am still thinking about where to make the reservations and I'm feeling a bit panicky at it all, seeing that I'm one week out, ha ha. I'd appreciate any help/advice, thanks!

Yes, I would say that moving fast is the only way to go if you want those popular places or have a large party. I was booking for 10 people (overlapping reservations) so I had it all planned out beforehand. Which restaurants, the ideal times I wanted, and the order in which to try for them based on popularity. I also had my husband signed in on a different account so that he could make reservations at the same time and I wasn't slogging through the whole list myself.

And I pulled up the restaurant page for each place I wanted so that I could just search from there instead of scrolling through a bunch of other restaurants to get to the one I wanted. I also settled for a more realistic number of people for the really hard to get places (read: Oga's) instead of trying for 10 people which I knew was a no go.

And I tried to schedule the days with the really hard to get restaurants towards the end of the trip so there would be more availability when my window opened up.

Good luck and remember that you can always keep trying if you don't get everything you wanted!

As others have said, move your harder to get reservations closer to the end of your trip. Additionally, you do not need to make the reservations in chronological order. If you want Beaches & Cream, for example, you can make that reservation first (even if it is several days into the trip).
