ADR available for 4 but not 2?

I called the dining line yesterday to make an ADR for breakfast at 1900 Park Fare. I just planned on taking my DD8. Since I had just made other ADRs for our family of 4 the CM thought I wanted a ADR for 4 for the 1900 Park Fare breakfast. The CM told me the various time and days that were available. When I reminder her that I only needed an ADR for 2 people for breakfast she then told me nothing was available on those days. I asked her why are there times available for 4 people and not for 2 people those days. I then decided to go ahead and make the ressie for 4 since my DD8 really wants to do this character breakfast. I suppose I could try to convince my husband and son to come with us. Why are there ADRs available for a party of 4 and not for a party of 2? If my husband and son don't want to go, can I show up with just my DD8?

The numbers available have to do with the tables available. If there are only tables that will fit parties of two then that is all that will be available. I do think you did the right thing. If you only show up with two people and you have an ADR they will seat you but you may or may not have to wait a bit.

Also, table for two are "borrowed" for parties of five that will need one table for four and one table for two. Or parties of six.

It's kind of a crap shoot at Disney World. Sometimes it very easy to get a table for two and sometimes it's impossible. It's the opposite of the real world. We've gone into standard restaurants with crowded waiting areas and have been led right to a table. But that's because real world restaurants have booths for two and not movable tables.

You might want to call closer to your trip and see if there is a table for two now available. Then you can take that one and free up the table for four for another family.
