ADR Advice: Sci-Fi, Akershus, ?

My DFi and I have booked for 7 nights at CSR and have the included Disney Dining Plan (regular). We plan to pay out of pocket for a couple of our table service meals, so we have booked more than 7 TS Credits worth of reservations. So far our reservations are:

Jiko 2TS
Biergarten
Les Chefs de France
Coral Reef
California Grill 2TS
Sci-Fi (OOP probably)

1. We really haven't heard anything positive about the food at Sci-Fi, our dilemma is that we need to book something that is at or near DIS Hollywod Studios for the day we plan on spending at that park. We do not want to use 2 TS credits to go to Brown Derby, but all the other restaurants really don't seem very appealing. How reasonable is it to leave that park and go to an Epcot restaurant or a resort restaurant and then return back to the park afterwards? Is that going to take a lot of time out of our schedule?

2. We have talked about paying out of pocket for Sci-Fi as it seems relatively inexpensive. If we do that, we would want to get another TS reservation (we are open to switching around our payments at our 1TS credit reservations and paying OOP then so we can use a 2TS credit at a different restaurant). Does anyone have any recommendations? We want something unique, but we also have specific dietary requirements (we are looking for something with good vegetarian options or fish entrees). Does anyone have any good suggestions? We live in Los Angeles, so we are frequently eating authentic Chinese and Japanese cuisine, so although Teppan Edo and Nine Dragons look appealing, we would prefer something different. Personally, I would like to try Akershus (because I am part Swedish and love Scandinavian cuisine) however; I am concerned that it might be awkward to attend a princess themed dinner as we do not have children and neither of us are into the princess franchise. Has anyone been to Akershus without kids?

Well, we went to Akershus as a couple before it was a princess restaurant. I would not hesitate to go there now even if our daughter was not with us because it is one of our favorite restaurants in the World. We have seen couples or adult groups there before. I guess you could skip the picture with Belle at the beginning, but it would still be a cute souvenir of the two of you!

I would skip a TS at HS and save it for another 2TS or anything else actually. We've survived a day at HS by having a big breakfast buffet somewhere else, then using snack credits during mid-day and then eating dinner somewhere else. If we have to eat TS at DHS, then we eat at HBD or 50s PTC. But, prefer to just go elsewhere. The Writers Stop or Starring Rolls Cafe are good for food items to tide you over until a TS meal.

I see that you are already eating at Jiko, but Boma is another great "unique" choice. The food is fantastic and not like anywhere else on property...many vegetarian options. Flying Fish Cafe (2TS) might work well for your DHS day, you could take the boat from DHS to the Boardwalk to eat dinner. Or, maybe go to DTD for dinner and the evening. DHS is not a full day experience for us, so it's easy to plan TS elsewhere.

I am not fond of Coral Reef...there are just too many other options in Epcot that are so much better.

Marrakesh gets mixed reviews, but it's always been fine to us. But, we live in a location with very few mediterranean options. They have vegetarian choices as well.

We've eaten at Les Chefs de France several times and it's hit or miss with the food and the service. But, when the opportunity is there, we don't avoid it.

Cali Grill is great, of course. Beautiful view and wonderful food choices.

Teppan Edo is nice, but sorta typical hibachi dining. If you have those choices at home, I'd skip.
