Hi Everyone,

I searched the Dis & couldn't find a thread for those of us that our becoming Moms & Dads through adoption.

Anyone out there & where are you in your process?

Today was a bad waiting day & I was hoping we could all support & celebrate each other:goodvibes and the journeys we're on.....

Is there a thread for families post placement? Our daughter is now almost 5 so the waiting threads don't really apply to us, although we would love to add to our family in the next year or so. We didn't go through foster care so that thread doesn't really apply either. Would love to see a thread after placement and the unique challenges that come up as the child grows.

We adopted Xander in 2009. He was a week old when we were matched through private placement. Can't imagine my life without him!

We are in process for Korea...waiting in our referral right now...hugs to all it's hard and so many people don't understand and unintentionally say hurtful things.

I have two children, both through adoption.
DS is 10 and today we're celebrating the 9th anniversary of his adoption.
DD is 6 and has been with us since she was 16 months.

Hang in there. It's definitely worth it in the end!

Adoptive family here, over 30 years now. :faint: And from our two kids, 3 grandsons now too. Stay the course, well worth it. :thumbsup2

DH and I want to start the adoption process in the next year or so. We have a bio girl and boy, which I thought excludes certain countries for us. We are not opposed to special needs placement, esp from China. How do we begin the process of researching agencies etc?

another adoptive mom. Son is 28, and daughter 22. Both special needs adoptions. Our son put us through hell, but now is the proud father of two beautiful children, and I can forgive him since he gave me these two. My daughter is living independently, something the agency never thought she would do, and is the love of my life.

For all that we went through with my son, I wouldn't change a thing....

Good luck and I hope the wait isn't long.

Our oldest was adopted from Russia in 2002, at 6 months of age. Today she is a happy, healthy 9 year old. Cannot imagine life without her, and feel very blessed we were able to build our family in this way.

Both of my kids are adopted through Wide Horizons for Children. We did special needs adoptions. Both were born with a cleft lip and palate. My oldest son is 23 and was born in Korea. My youngest son is 20 and was born in The Phillipines.

They are doing great and we are all a perfect match for each other. It was all meant to be.

Our kids (now 14 and 12) were adopted from South Korea.

Waiting is hard! Waiting for our kids to arrive was one of the hardest things we ever did. All I can say is to hang in there because when your time does come, every single minute of waiting will have been worth it! Remember....Every day is you wait is one day closer to when you'll meet your child. :flower3:

I did a special needs adoption from China (BEST thing I have ever done). Please PM and I can send you some info.
