Adoption Updates

With that said... Kiara Ann has officially been matched with us as of August 28th, "officially." :)

Congratulations!!! :cheer2: And she's so young too! How long do you have to wait until she comes home?

If she's in a foster home during the wait then all the better. My two princesses spent the first two years of their lives in a large orphanage and have certain challenges to overcome as a result.

Oh my goodness! That is the best thing I heard alll day! EXCEPT ...for our little ds (also adopted) telling me he LUBS me when I got him up this morning! Oh, I remember how excited we were when we were matched ... WOWWW! I am soooo happy for you guys!!!

Ashley, congratulations on being matched, officially!!!

I hope the time passes quickly until your princess is home!

I don't know if I'm "aloud" to post this or not.... Mods, feel free to delete the post if it is against the rules.

I am starting a clothing drive for the orphanages in Guatemala. My husband and I will be visit Kiara sometime this fall so I am going to spend these next 2-3 months collecting new or used clothing for the orphanages. These outfits can be new, used, for any size newborn - teen, and for either gender. I just ask that the clothing not have any stains or tears in them. Please PM me if you have clothes to donate. Thank you!! :)

Thank you ALL for the warm wishes. We are overjoyed at being matched... And I think that is SO cute that your son "lubs" you ;) Kids can really melt your heart.

I have a lot of stuff that I was going to take to China for Lily's orphanage. I would be happy to send these to you.

YAY!! Congratulations, you must be thrilled!!!!
Can't wait to see her face!

I've been out of the loop on here for a while so excuse me if I'm clueless. Is anyone here adopting from Vietnam? Any input?

Thanks, good luck and congrats to everyone. :)

Welcome Ashley. We finished up a dossier for Guatemala, but went back to Kazakhstan as that is really where our heart is. We're planning to adopt an older boy.

Maryann- How are you doing? We think about you guys often. Are you looking into Vietnam? There's a yahoo group on adoption agency research you might want to join- they have good info about agencies and the people pull no punches. Little worry about getting monitored by agency employees as on other listes, so people really speak their minds. Also- if you want to fill people in on your former agency...

Now our good news- our dossier-- all twenty six documents apostilled, three pages of photos, was Fed Exed to our agency this morning! Barring any unforeseen horrible events (war, deployment, grave sickness) our coordinator says we might be traveling to Kaz this winter (brrrr). I'm thinkng spring- maybe April, but she said be prepared to go when it's very cold.

We finished our homestudies and all our paperwork collecting and then switched to a domestic program just last month. Now we have one visit Tuesday and the matching begins :) We were initially going with the Philippines program, but the wait time just kept getting longer and longer and with the cost and in country time for the other International programs, we're glad we were led to the domestic program we're in now. Our social worker is wonderful, and I really believe that we were led to her for this adoption. Can't wait to get matched....so exciting that we're on the downhill part of it now.

We received 36 pictures of Kiara this morning. This is one of my favorites. I am so in love with this little girl! I can't wait to hold her. My poor husband is working and has yet to see the pictures! :(

Sorry this is so big!

:cloud9: :cloud9: :cloud9: :cloud9: wow, she is beautiful!!!

Ashley- she's so beautiful. Everytime I see a baby picture, or a small infant I think hmmm, maybe a baby would be nice. But then I remember how old I am and come to my senses.

Congratulations on the referral.

We're now waiting on Kazakhstan.

A little update from me. Our dossier has been received by our agency, it will take a couple of weeks to be authenticated and then is off to Thailand. Hopefully our I-171h will arrive shortly. We are very hopeful that we will be "presented" at the October or November board meeting and be officially matched with our son, who will be 2 in December. Our agency is going to visit the many waiting children they advocate for in the near future so I have put together a package for them to take to him. Looking forward to some recent photos and video upon their return. Congrats to all for recent referrals and exciting progresses.

subscribing. Hello every one we just found this thread and I'm looking forward to reading all the post as I'm sure my Dw is also. We are in the proccess of filling out our paper work to adopt a little girl from china. So wee will be leaving updates along the way and are looking forward to becoming closer with all of you. :wave2:

Hello ladies!

I AM FINALLY A MOMMY!! :teeth:

Not sure if you remember me, but I am Emily and we were one of the few that was doing an open domestic adoption.

I am happy to report that Jocelyn Faith was born on June 23rd weighing 8lbs 4oz, 22", and just as gorgeous as can be!

We brought her home from the hospital when she was 2 days old and the birthparents signed papers the following weekend. They are just amazing kids and I love and respect them more than I ever thought possible.

Joey (that's what we have been calling her, DH came up with it - we aren't sure how) is growing like a weed. At her 2 month appt she was already 12lbs 4oz and 25 1/2 inches long!

It's still very surreal and sometimes I just sit and stare at her. For like hours. :)

I haven't had a chance to read through everyones posts yet, this is my first week back to work and I'm feeling a little overwhelmed. We are lucky that I only have to work Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays and Joey isn't at daycare she's at my best friends house. It's just all falling into place!

I hope everyone one is doing well and on their way to becoming amazing mommies!! :grouphug:

If someone can give me the quick version of how to post a pic I'll try to do so from home tonight!

Congratulations, Emily! :cheer2:  :cheer2:

We adopted domestically, too. Our wonderful daughter is 3.5 now. It goes by so fast -- cherish every second, even those 3:00 a.m. feedings!

To post a picture, first you have to upload the picture to a hosting site, like photobucket. Then click "insert image" on the toolbar and copy/paste the URL of the image. There are more detailed instructions on the technical board, I think.

Congrats, again! :woohoo:

Congrats Emily! I was hoping you would update sometime! It's a very exciting time! I hope you figure out how to post a picture!

Ashley, your little one is beautiful!

Best wishes to everyone else!
