Our agency escorts children. We are expecting him home in January or February.
Wow- what aperfect way to start the new year :) :) :)

Congrats on your referral DVC Jen.

Welcome to the new people.

Now for our good news- we received our USCIS approval today, so now we need to get our background check from the FBI, and have a few things straightened out by our homestudy agency and we can send our things off the Kazakhstan embassy for the first phase of processing. Our coordinator is hoping we can travel in the winter.

I'm glad things are progressing for you in Kaz, Julie. How long will you have to be there and how are you going to handle it with an already established family?

One of my friends adopted from there a couple of years ago. She was gone for something like 6 weeks. Her DS, from Vietnam, and her DH stayed home while she was there by herself with some other adoptive parents. She said that they spent a lot of time in the mall to pass the time.

Dh and I have to go over for about 3 weeks- 2 weeks of meeting and bonding with our son and then the court date. We'll both come home, and then dd (12) and I will go back for about a week to bring him home.

Our homestudy agency has so screwed things up with the paperwork, and they can't follow our simple instructions to fix things. And now it seems the FBI has lost our original fingerprint cards and haven't done our background checks.

So maybe we'll get to go in the spring instead of the 20 below winter anyway.

Julie

What a cool trip for your 12 yo to make with you, not to mention a great bonding experience with her new brother!

It just stinks that the govt screws up so many important things for people. I hope you don't have to travel far to get re-fingerprinted. Once you do, try calling your congressman or senator to see if they can expedite things since they were messed up the first time.

Arlen Spector's office was paramount in helping to get our DD's passport processed in time for our vacation this year after there were screw ups at the processing office. The man to whom I spoke said that they can help things along after an application is filed. Maybe this can get your DS home with you faster.

Even though I'm in TX, I can vouch for Spector's office. They stepped in and are helping another adoptive Mom that's having HUGE problems w/ the same agency I had.

Jen, he's wonderful!!! :)

An update on things over here....
DH and I are going to the bank tomorrow to apply for a personal line of credit. A lot of stuff is waiting on this one thing...and one that's all take care of, then we can finally get back on pace. I'm getting a little burnt out from all the paper chasing.

DVCJen- he is very handsome, and he looks great in red.

The second set of prints are back (less than 1 week since sending them) from the FBI. I think the first set got lost, because they never charged our credit card.

SO NOW we're just waiting for our homestudy agency to figure out how to notarize the paperwork. Maybe the fifth time is the charm for us. Hopefully we'll have everything apostilled and on it's way to the Kaz embassy by the end of next week.

Julie

DVC Jen, Congratulations! He's so cute with that bandana! Looks like one cool dude LOL!

Hi all,

I got PM'd today from RUDisney about this thread. I'd like to introduce us. :goodvibes I'm Ashley, and my husband is Eddie. We were married last year in WDW. This year we are adopting a baby girl, from Guatemala. Originally, we were going to go with Guatemala.. then switched to Vietnam, and now we are back with Guatemala. Funny how life works out, I think our little girl just needed some extra time. Today actually, I get an e-mail with an agency I have been going back and fourth with that they have 2 baby girls and if I'm interested. Well, of course! We are going to be sending in our paperwork on Monday.. and our coordinator leaves this week to go to Guatemala so we'll be able to send a package down with her for the baby. :Pinkbounc Any idea's on what to send? My husbands mother is sending a sleeper, and I think my mother is sending a dress. Thus far, from us, we have a "who loves baby?" photo album, HAIR BOWS, 5 disposable cameras (one for every month leading up to January.) We should probably add in some outfits, I think.. Any other suggestions?

Thanks :)

Is she with a foster family or in a group type setting? Our son is with a foster family and we sent some candy and a little post card type book about our state to them so they would have a better idea of where our son would be going. We also sent pjs and a couple of small toys.

She's in private foster care. We only have a 2.5 gallon size bag to fit things into. I was definitely planning to get her foster family gifts when we go for a visit and pick up. Maybe I could send her some candies.

Welcome, Ashley! I knew you'd enjoy this thread!

Talk to your coordinator about the things that they need. While nice to send personal items, they may need wipes or diaper rash cream. When we were headed to Russia, that's what we were told about the baby hospitals. They evidently don't have, or don't stock diaper rash cream and so when they have some, they keep it locked up until skin pulls away with the diaper. Sorry if anyone is eating while reading this, but that's what we were told.

Toothbrushes and toothpaste were also another hot commodity.

Welcome Ashley!! I've seen you over on the Wedding/Honeymoon board! Glad you found us!

I'm starting to get worried...there are all sorts of rumors flying around about China enforcing new restrictions on adoptive parents. I'm sure they won't affect us directly, but I can't help but worry...whatever they may be! We are sooooooooooo close to starting...my DH keeps reminding me of what I tell him all the time...whatever is supposed to happen, will happen. I need to have faith...it's just so hard when you don't know what's going on! :guilty:

Once upon a time.. a beautiful princesa was born on August 19th, 2006 in Guatemala. Her mama could not raise her, so she sadly, and bravely, made a choice to put her beautiful baby up for adoption. A beautiful queen all the way in America was checking e-mail when she came upon an e-mail from a very special person, explaining there were two babies available for adoption... and if the beautiful queen and handsome king decided on one of them, they could adopt a beautiful princesa. So.. the queen and king looked and received more info.. and decided that this little sweetheart was their daughter...

With that said... Kiara Ann has officially been matched with us as of August 28th, "officially." :)

Our coordinator is going to Guatemala on Friday, and we will be receiving around 20 pictures of Kiara and video when she arrives back home!

We did send out a package for Princess Kiara which included:

5 rolls of film
camera
3 sleepers
3 pairs of socks
2 outfits
3 hair bows
a toy
a photo album
and
a yellow cookie monster blankey (my husband proudly picked this out.)

When we receive updated pictures of our KiKi, I will post them :) :cool1:
