Adoption Anyone?? (Update - see P4 #57)

We're planning to adopt from China next year (gotta wait until I'm 30...never thought I would be anxiously awaiting my 30th birthday and hoping it would be here tomorrow!). We have 2 bio sons, the first was "easy" and the 2nd we hit secondary infertility. After trying for a 3rd last year, we decided to up our timetable for adoption by 1 child. ;) So, now we'll have 2 bio sons and 1 adopted daughter instead of the 3 bio kids and 1 adopted daughter.

We've planned to adopt since our LONG sans radio drive from Nashville to Tucson right after we married. LOL Amazing the plans and discussions you get into without a radio to entertain you on long drives.

Why China? I've wanted to adopt from China since I was 14. God has pulled me in that direction for years. I had a slight "look" at Korea, but since we don't have an agency in our state for South Korea, we'd have to adopt special needs and Dh isn't as comfortable with that option at the moment. We checked into domestic before DS #2, but since having 2 boys we WANT a girl.

We will be adopting but cant start the process for another 1 1/2 yrs.We are going to adopt from China and we both have to be 30 and DH is just 28.We are so sad that we have to wait we want a baby girl now,but good things come to whose that wait.
We have known for a couple of years we want to adopt but we became very serious just a couple of months ago and we were heart broken when we found out we had to wait.

We are going to try again to get pregnant.I have miscarried twice and had our DD when i was 22 weeks and it was the hardest thing we have ever had to go through. We found out after that that i have 1/2 of my uterus and only one tube so it is not going to be a simple pregnancy,I was at the Dr last week and they told me if they could get me to 28 weeks they would be happy, but we hope I can make it alot longer than that.

I would like to adopt a second child in a few years from Poland (of all places!!) as that is part of my heritage.

The region of Russia that our sons are from (Kaliningrad) is not Poland, however it borders Poland (it is not attached to mainland Russia). It was in fact at one time Prussia as is Poland, so our children are kind of a Polish/German/Russian mix!

oh and Hi:) Very proud adoptive family here :) we have been home with our two sons since June 11.. and we just adore them! Reid and Oliver will be turning 1 on Sunday.. and we are having a big first birthday bash for them on Saturday.. then Sunday will be spent with Mickey!!

:)

We have a bio daughter who is 27 and an adopted ds12 who is from south korea. He came home to us at 3 1/2 months. Adopting him was the best decision that we ever made! :sunny:

Infertility--the best thing that ever happened to us!
As our daughter nears her 10th birthday, I am overwhelmed with the joy she has brought to our lives. We adopted her from China as a baby.

It's funny--infertility started out as what we thought was the WORST thing that ever happened to us, but turned out to be the BEST. Without infertility we wouldn't have her in our lives--and I can't imagine that at all!! Sometimes in life you don't get what you want--you get something better!

Just thought I'd post this for anyone out there dealing with infertility who is considering the miracle of adoption and is looking for encouragement!

This is very well said. If we had been able to get pregnant then we never would have thought to adopt DD. I am grateful now I experienced infertility, even though at the time it was very hard.

After 4 years of trying without success and not wanting to go the medical route, we decided to adopt. Four years after that, we were blessed with our beautiful daughter. SHe will be 3 at the end of September. We saw her for the 1st time when she was 9 days old and we brought her home at 4 weeks. We could have brought her home at 2 weeks, but that is a long story.

We adopted locally through Catholic Charities.

We wish you all the happiness.

Thank you for the encouragement. This is a very positive way to look at infertility. I very much appreciate these words. :grouphug:

Congratulations on your family expansion!!!

The Polish/Russian/German heritage is exactly what my grandparents were, only they grew up speaking Polish, and on the Poland side of the border, so that's what we say our heritage is. Maybe we should consider the area your children were born.

Have you considered other countries to adopt from, or do all the countries have a minimum age limit? I haven't heard of that before. Here is the states you specify to the agency that you wish to adopt a girl and sometimes you get a newborn, or at least under a year.

I hope you are able to experience the joys of parenthood sooner that 2 or more years. It is very rewarding, or so I've been told.

I have 4 biological children and my husband also has 4. They're all adults. 32 months ago Isabella was dropped into our lives. Our adoption should be final within the next few weeks! She turned 7 last month and is such a joy.

I always wished I'd had another girl and now I have her. She's keeping me young and has added such depth and fun to our lives. I guess this is what I'm supposed to be doing in my mid 50s. ;)

China is the oldest age limit. We are sitting on our dossier waiting for Sept 30th my 30th Birthday. Guatamala and russia are 25 I believe. China was the choice for me since I was in HS. Only 8 months until we get to see our princess I hope.

I think what you wrote is beautiful! :goodvibes

Monami7--this weekend it's August--only a few more days until you can say "I'll be sending my dossier next month!" Hang in there!

Sandy22, thanks for your kind words--from your signature it looks like this time next month you'll have your princess in your arms. How awesome!!

Have either of you bought diapers yet? I remember a few weeks before we adopted our daughter I bought my first package of diapers for her--I was so excited that these diapers were for MY daughter!

Enjoy the wait--the anticipation can be glorious with so much love and good wishes from your friends and family.

:goodvibes That is the 1st thing we did when we mailed our application/scrapbook off to the lawyer! I had not bought one single thing until that day! Then, after we were matched, I picked up a pkg once a week or so.

I have heard a lot of people I know say that if they had chose to adopt they would choose China also. I did not know they had an age restriction. We have some friends that adopted a beatiful girl from China about 18m ago, and have submitted their paperwork for their second from the same agency their daughter is from. They even put in for a daughter from the same village that Elizabeth is from. To keep her heritage close to her, her middle name is the village she is from. I thought that was quite clever.

I have wanted to adopt also since about HS, but I always thought it would be my second, not my first. But I am happy with the decision. I just want to be a mom. The child does not have to be biologically mine for me to be a mother. :cloud9: :smooth: I just want to be called mom soon.

Then my child's first Disney experience will be a cruise (May '07)!! My sister (14) is excited for this to happen and can't wait to experience Disney for her first time (and with her niece/nephew as well!!) (Yes, a built in Babysitter! :rolleyes1 )

The only thing I have bought was when we first decided to have a child. I bought a "My first Dalmation T-shirt." It has been in a box with some other baby stuff I have saved from previous showers I have given. My DH wants to take it out and wash it as soon as we are matched. I want to go overboard and register at Babies R Us. :cheer2:

Jumping in late... we adopted our son from Kazakhstan in 2004, he had just turned 4. We never faced the pain of infertility, we just always felt adoption was right for us, adoption runs close on both sides of our face DH's Mother, and my DGM were adopted. He couldn't be more perfect for us and us for him.

Our process took a little over a year and we stayed in country for 8 WEEKS :earseek: :sad2: It was very hard but he was waiting on us to come get him, so we did what we had to do to bring him home. (The time frame is much better now I hear).
If you have any questions feel free to PM me.

Well my ticker is most likely going to run out before she gets here. She was supposed to arrive back in March! My file still needs to go through one final step. I'm thinking it will likely be another 2 months. It's been heartbreaking to miss all this time with her....she's now 17 months old.

Yes I've been buying diapers! And clothes, toys, soap, shampoo, powders and cremes, dolls, blankies, shoes, books, more toys, and more clothes. :rotfl: That's a problem with waiting so long....all this time to shop shop shop!

Kim in TN--your son is beautiful!

Sandy22--this is heartbreaking!! The wait must be agonizing!! Please come back and post when she arrives!!

Well we finally sent in our paperwork and have started the homestudy process. As long as the rest of the paperwork is to the agency in the next week, we should have a profile available online the beginning of October!! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: Our homestudy should be done in about 4 more weeks. :cheer2: :cheer2:

Our hopes are for a healthy baby ________ (I want a boy, my DH doesn't care, he just wants a baby). Whichever we are blessed with from Above we will love beyond what we think we can. :love1: :love1:

And baby will have it's first Disney experience in May 2007!! :wizard: :earboy2:

Stay tuned . . . . . . . .
