We are staying at the Newport Bay Club in the Admiral's floor in 6 weeks time and was just wondering what to expect from it and its rooms.
We have stayed in standard bedrooms in NPBC before and recently stayed in the Castle Club at Disneyland Hotel so was just wondering how it compared to the two.

I know Jill (jillrobinson) had a great stay. Check out her trip reports here under Jill & Co's Trip Reports March 2006 :)

As Elaine said we he had a great stay there I couldn't fault it, part of that was down to the VIP breakfast that by all accounts the hotel keeps changing it's mind about, as I've read somewhere it is now only available for suites. Hopefully that isn't the case and you'll be offered it, we were also given a complimentary room service voucher for coffee, when it arrived it was a kettle and a little hamper of coffees, teas, sugars and milk, so worth getting it on the first night, ours lasted us the whole stay.
The consierge service and room service were both quick and efficient, our luggage was brought up to the room for us, (we used the Disney Express luggage service with Eurostar) and on the last day we left it in our room and rang consierge to collect - it was all very easy.
I loved all the little extras in the bathroom, shampoo as well as bubble bath, bath sized soaps as well as the face ones, hairdryer, fluffy white bathrobes and fresh flowers.
and in the bedrooms, air-con, cuddly toys & choc. coins on the kids beds and a box of Belgian chocolates for the grown ups.
I don't think the bedrooms are different to standard rooms, other than they're all on the 6th floor ( I think) - our room had a double with safe/ mini-fridge at the side and bunk beds and bathroom, whilst my sister's next door had 2 doubles, bathroom but the vanity basin/safe/fridge were in a seperate area between the bathroom and the bedroom.
I can't imagine it's going to measure upto your DLH Castle Club experience, but I did read somewhere that it's supposed to be the next best thing. :)
Hope you have as fabulous a holiday as we did there. :goodvibes

Paul,

We DID THE Admirals Option last Christmas and can confirm (and agree) with everything Jill has said.

Cant comment on the DLH comparison but if the standard is as wide as the difference between the NP and the Cheyenne/SF and finances allow then I'd go for the DLH.

You wont regret going to the NB though - its a great hotel and we would stay there again.

For some pics of the bedrooms look at the slideshow I posted here.

When I stayed in an Admiral's Floor room I didn't get the bathrobes, fresh flowers, cuddly toys, chocolate coins or the Belgian chocolates!!!  I didn't realise they did these perks now - I thought this sort of thing had got less and less over the years.

It's certainly possible that I didn't get them because I booked our room on a hotel upgrade offer. It would be really nice if you do still get these little extras when you're "genuine" Admiral Floorers!!

Thanks every one for your replies. I'm glad that the Admiral's Floor has a private breakfast room, thats a real bonus. I know it can't compare to the quality on offer at the Castle Club DLH but with all that you all mentioned it sounds great. We haven't stayed at the NPBC for a couple of years now and really love the hotel so can't wait to go back especially at Christmas.
We have been to DLRP at Christmas before but this time will be extra special as we are taking along our 20 month old daughter, Jessica, so we cannot wait to see her face when she takes in all the festive Disney magic!!
Thanks again

Paul

Loved the slideshow Sarah, we really have got to plan a Christmas trip

Paul & Debbie, I'm sure you and Jessica will have a wonderful time :goodvibes

Did you get FastPass tickets for your stay at the Admiral floor???

We didn't but I had noticed beforehand that the brochure information had been changed, in the previous season Fastpasses had been given out when staying on the Admiral Floor.
It seems that the perks of Admiral's Floor are constantly changing. :confused3

We did not get them either and we booked the Admirals Floor!!

We also did not have a private breakfast room, the hotel was not, however, very full.

Another point to note for anyone who is driving is that there was a VIP Car Parking area just to the right of the hotel for people on the Admirals Floor. You could not get in until you had your hotel ID card but it was a lot closer to the hotel entrance than some of the parking spaces in the main car park and made taking luggage in and out easier.

We did, but we went just at the end of that particularly perk. You don't get it anymore :sad2:

I also don't know if the private breakfast room was available when we visited, as one morning we did the GMF breakfast and the other morning we used room service - which was a very useful perk for us. :thumbsup2

So don't go expecting great things of the Admiral's Floor, and you may then be pleasantly surprised!!
