We are going to book a holiday for December at some point in the next 2 weeks. We last stayed at Newport Bay in 2006 and had paid for lakeside room but were upgraded for free to admirals floor lakeside room. The extras we received in 2006 were chocolates on arrival, chocolate coins on the bed with a turn down service each evening, bath robes and breakfast in the captains quarters instead of the normal restaurants.

My question is, i know a lot has changed since then so what do you now get extra for staying on the admirals floor?

That is a very good question, because I plan to stay at the Admirals Floor in January 2012 and would love to hear your statements.

The important thing for me is the extra breakfast at the Captains Quarters.

Is it still available for Admiral Floor guests for free ? :confused3

I have been trying to do some research on this and from what i have found out only those staying in suites now have breakfast in the captains quarters although any guest can pay an extra E12 to have a hot breakfast here. It has been suggested that it would be better to book a lakeside room and use the extra money to do this. Any thoughts from anyone who has stayed here in the last year?

That's my understanding too. My DH originally wanted to stay here last May but when we found out about the breakfast we decided against it.

I found this on the Newport Bay Club FAQ Thread:

The options for breakfast are
1. Book a time in the main restarant, this is OK with a good range of (cold) things but gets quite busy after 8am.
2. Breakfast in the park (at the Plaza Gardens) this was very good but book well in advance ticjkects were gone 2 days ahead. And it also gets busy later. We did this every chance we got.
3.Pay extra to have a hot breakfast in the Captains Quarters bar, 12 euros for adults and 8 for children. This was nice and very relaxied but a bit expensive just to get some bacon and eggs.
4. And of course room service, but there is a charge for this. We didnt try it as the kids need space in the morning (or at least we need space from the kids).

Can someone who stayed there recently confirm that these points are true ?
