Hello all,

Awhile back there was a thread that mentioned how to adjust the thermostat in the rooms.

Would anyone know how to do that?

Thanks in advance. We passed the 30 day mark... starting to feel butterflies in the stomach. First stay as DVC members (at SSR).

Can't wait.

We were just at SSR in April and I adjusted the thermostat there. It did not look like the one in the above post but was very easy to adjust. Just push the button for warmer or colder. You did not have to bypass any sensors.

I was trying to adjust the thermostat at BCV a couple of weeks ago, not trying to bypass anything, just trying to turn it up since DH had turned it to "ice box." I fumbled trying to press the up arrow. Next thing I knew, instead of degrees Farenheit, I had degrees Celsius! I never did figure out how to get it back!

I think what they are talking about is disabling the motion sensor feature that cuts off the A/C when people are sleeping and/or not in the unit. :)

Heading to SSR soon- if it gets hot in the middle of the night I will FREAK!!:scared1: If I have a balloon in the room, will that work?

I just did a print screen of the directions so I won't forget on our next trip, but maybe a helium balloon tied lower to the floor with the ceiling fan on would do the trick as well. :thumbsup2

I don't think the balloon and fan idea will work. We were there in April too. We had the fans foing and had 2 balloons in the room. Thankfully, it wasn't too hot at night. I did notice it got a little stuffy though. I think it would have been a whole different story if the weather was warmer.:scared1:

Over a year ago, someone posted these notes. I don't remember who did it. But it works at SSR. Good luck.

Press the power button and the down arrow button simultaneously. The letters "bp" should appear in the display indicating you are in "bypass" mode. Then you can use the up/down buttons to set the temperature. You may have to do this every 24 hours or every few days.

The sensor by-pass for our kind of thermostat was simple--I just pressed the "off" button and both the temperature "up/down" buttons all at the same time. "BP' appears in the thermostat, and then it operates as most other themostats in most other hotels in the US

And yet another:

The thermostat has two buttons on the left (ON/OFF and AUTO/FAN) and two buttons on the right (UP and DOWN)

1) Press the ON/OFF and AUTO/FAN buttons together. The digital display will change to 'CA'.

2) Press the ON/OFF and DOWN button together. The digital display will change to 'OR" (or something similar).

You have just deactivated the motion sensor. This will last for three days at which point you will have to repeat the process.

The motion sensor responds to a heat source, like a person, moving across the sensor windows. I doubt if a balloon will work.

I had posted directions at one time and yes, it does work. We have used this at both SSR and OKW. The only thing I noticed is that you should do this every day. Balloons do not work.

Wow, I am so glad I asked! I had gotten the balloon idea from another thread and was going to go with it- thanks for setting me straight. I need a good night's sleep at Disney to do all the stuff I have planned! :thumbsup2 Thanks for the directions-
Ellen
