adjusting a reservation

We have a situation where we need to adjust an existing reservation by dropping a day at either the beginning or end of the stay.

We would also like to be able to rearrange the points used for the reservation. The way the reservation is currently it is using points from two different 100 pt contracts. We would like to rearrange this so that all the points from one contract are restored to their current UY and we then use the second contract, with some borrowing from 2011, to fully book and keep the reservation.

Anyone have any experience or advice on how to accomplish both of these things?

I recently had a waitlist come through, and MS didn't exactly follow my instructions as to which contract the points for the room was to come from. I carefully explained to MS regarding what I had asked for and what was done, and even though that particular CM couldn't change the points, someone else did.

If there's not an issue of home booking advantage, MS should be able to help you. Just be clear about which contract the points should be coming from.

I don't know about dropping days, but I just called yesterday to re-allocate points.

My situation was a follows (both reservations feel within the same UY for me (Mar 1 2010 - Feb 28 2011, and I own at BWV and BLT):

1. I called months ago and booked an April 2010 trip to GCV for DSister. This used all my banked/borrowed BLT points (one of the rules is that any reservation made first pulls from banked/borrowed points before CY points), plus they used CY BLT points instead of my CY BWV points (I did request that they use by BWV points, but I guess this got missed).

2. I then called yesterday to booked my Jan 2011 BLT trip at the 11 month window, and did not have enought BLT points - so, they reallocated. All of my CY BWV points went to the April 2010 GCV trip. This freed up all my banked, borrowed and CY BLT points, so I had enought to book my Jan 2011 trip at the 11 month window (and splurge to get a MK view).

It took about 20 min on the phone, but the MS person assisting was great, kept me updated, and I was online and able to see what was done in the end and agree it was exactly what I wanted. I don't know the specific rules about point reallocations - only that this one worked out for me.

They can do this for most situations. There can be an issue if any of the reservations were made inside the home resort window. Usually they can get it done though for most situations.
