I have noticed that two DVC studio rooms are less expensive than a 2BR (We have 5 people). Is it possible to get adjoining studio rooms (door inbetween) ???? I have seen where people do this in some non DVC resorts.

Except for the Inn Rooms at VB, none of the DVC resorts have studios that connect. All DVC resorts will have studios that connect to a 1BR villa allowing that combination to create a 2BR villa. There are a few situations where there are studios adjacent to each other - but none that connect.

And if they did, no way to guarantee that option, even at VB. You can ask they be close by and this usually happens but this wouldn't be workable for most children unless they are older or the parents split up. The one thing to think about in this situation is the food costs. If you use the kitchen enough, the 2 BR may pay for itself with 5 people at Disney.

Even at the regular Disney resorts, you have to be careful with vocabulary. To the Disney staff, "adjoining" only means located nearby. "Connecting" rooms have the door between that you're looking for. As explained above, the only connecting rooms within DVC are from a studio to a 1-bedroom (creating a 2-bedroom when the connecting door is open). A few of the other Disney resorts have connecting rooms, but the reservation system will rarely guarantee them.

We considered doing this when we went with 4 people (all adults). However, finally we decided on the two bedroom. Mostly what swayed us was the fact that we'd have a washer-dryer in the unit, as well as 3 TV's among all of us, instead of the two in the studios (and remember, in a 2-BR, you get a DVD player). For us also, since we were a family probably vacationing together for the last time (soon to be empty-nesters), the idea of one large living room to congregate in, rather than the 2 seperate studios was appealing to Mom.

We booked two studios at OKW a couple of summers ago when traveling with my parents. We were in the Orlando area for golf, not the parks, so knew we didn't really need the kitchen and living area offered by 1/2/3 bedroom villas. When we checked in, they had us in separate buildings but I just asked to be closer together and the CM changed us to the same building. My parents were on the first floor and we were right above them on the second floor. Worked out just great!
