Adjoining Studio Rooms?

It's not official yet, but I'm thisclose to becoming a DVC member. Our closing is tomorrow!

Our first trip as members will be the first week of April. We have 3 children and therefore the one bedroom unit is going to be a little tight on sleeping space. Our two year old was head to toe in her packNplay during our December trip, so I'm pretty sure those days are over.

I am thinking that we may be better off booking two studios instead of a one bedroom unit. Points are pricey in April and I don't want to fork over the amount for a 2 bedroom unit.

Does anyone out there know if there are any adjoining studio units?

Thanks!

I am pretty sure (99%) that there are no adjoining studios.

I hope their existence isn't what it would take to welcome you home!

Bobbi :D

Hmmm. I was afraid of that. It seems to me that most studios adjoin one bedroom units.

Back to the drawing board.

Thanks!

I think that BW has them right next to each other - problem is these are dedicated only and you have to be over 18 to stay in one....

married couples don't generally like to stay apart....

ah -but a few nights in seperate rooms so that everyone can be comfortable at Disney....I might do that no problem! (even though I would not sleep as well without hubby by me)

then call and ask BWV - if I remember these were on the 3rd floor - also I think the one I had - had that studio plus - so there was a little (and I mean little) day bed in it.

If that is true (dedicated studios next to each other), there aren't very many of them. You cannot be guaranted of getting one and IMHO, your chances are very small og getting a request like that.

Why not just bring a sleeping bag/air mattress or aero bed along for one of the kids? There's plenty of room on the floor for that in the 1 bedroom.

Best wishes -

That idea (sleeping bag/aero bed) was my first plan. However I thought, if there were connecting studio rooms, everyone would be more comfortable sleeping. I don't believe in cooking on vacation, so I didn't mind losing the full kitchen. And getting two studios would give us two full baths, which would be wonderful! A fine tradeoff for losing the laundry room, another thing I don't use much on vacation.

Thanks so much for the info everyone. I will give a call to DVC and see what I can find out. I was afraid that since they won't "know" me for a few more days I wouldn't get anywhere with them yet.

there are not connecting - but adjoining - big different - these were dedicated so they are not connected to anything.

"Adjoining" means just next to each other. "Connecting" has the door in between. I know there were several studios in a row at the beginning of the 5th floor at BWV facing the Village Green. These would not have a connecting door, I don't believe any DVC studios have a connecting door to another studio.

I'd recommend saving the headache and points and go for the aerobed. I bought one a couple years ago and frankly, If I can't have my own bed (sleep number), I want the aerobed. I can commando like a teenager with the right nights sleep. There is lots of space in a one bedroom to set it up.

Start saving for an add on though.. it won't be long before you will need a two bedroom.

I think I'm with you. Soooo, anybody out there got a good recommendation on aerobeds? We have a full size one now that just happened to have gotten a whole in it the other night during a sleepover. It's just as well because I think I'd rather have a twin size for use in a one bedroom unit.

I think this new topic definetly needs to be it's very own thread.

Oh and btw we ARE going for a two bedroom unit when we go back the first of December. Points are more affordable then so I'm looking very forward to that trip. :cool1:

Thanks again everybody!

My "aerobed" isn't actually branded that way. I bought a single Eddy Bauer brand at walmart. It had all the features of the Aerobed, but cost a lot less money. We can get a mattress pad and a set of sheets in the carrier with the mattress. The carrier has shoulder straps so it can be carried like a back pack. It works very well for us... Neither myself or DW are light folks weightwise, and it has held up well. I don't think any airmattress would hold up to kids jumping on them though.

I would suggest getting a ReadyBed for one of the kids (although you might find that you have to get one for each of them). Our kids who are 3 & 4 love them. They are air matresses that have fleece sleeping bags attached to them and are twinsized. They are great because we don't have to bring extra sheets, etc. You can get them at Target for around $25-30 (be sure to check the clearance rack, we got one for $7 for our nephew on our last trip) or tou can get them from ReadyBed.com.
