My first post, yeah! I'm getting the planning bug alright! Dh& I stayed at the GC right after it opened in 2001, but haven't been back since. I'm especially excited to go with dd, since this will be her first time.

Anyways, I just booked two adjoining standard rooms for my parents, dh & me & 2 dd (4 years & 9 mo.) I know that you can sometimes ask at check-in for a free upgrade. Would the possibility be less likely since I'm requesting adjoining rooms?

Also, what type of room should I request? I asked to be near an elevator. Figure with so many in my party, it's just easier. Any other tips on room requests?

Lastly, I requested a room with a queen & bunk bed. DD1 has always wanted to have a bunk bed and I thought this would be a fun way for her to try one out. Space wise, we'd have to set up the Pack-n-play, so would it be better to go 2 queens or 1 queen & 1 bunk?

I know I have a lot of questions, but my head is just spinning with excitement.

Thanks!

Melinda

Did you request adjoining rooms or connecting rooms? We were told that whatever request you make, put the most important one first...such as connecting or bed size or view...we were also told that neither adjoining nor connecting rooms can be guaranteed, but if you have young children in your party your connecting room request would receive higher priority.

I love the monorail garden view for a standard view room...so peaceful. And I believe a queen bed with sleeper sofa would give you more room for the pack and play.

Happy planning :cheer2:

Hmmm, didn't think about adjoining vs connectiong. Good thing I asked here. I think I may have requested adjoining and not connecting. Better make a call!

you knows what funny and i forgot to post but when we went in march while checking in i noticed a family requesting and upgrade lol they did not get it though but i wonder if too many peopole began to ask... one of the reason i love my dvc!!!!

Adjoining = Rooms right next to each other or on the other side of the hallway (ie both rooms right across from each other).

Connecting = Rooms with the little doorway inside of the rooms that allow you to walk from one room to the other without exiting your room.

Requests are simply requests and are NOT guaranteed. Requests are subject to availability and hotel occupancy levels. View, room type, bedding types, and location are all considered to be requests.
