Adjoining/Connecting Rooms

For my next trip, I have reserved two rooms. I requested connecting rooms, but my confirmation says "Adjoining Rooms Requested But Not Guarenteed!". I have called CRO a couple times and said that I would like Connecting Rooms, and they keep telling me that it is already listed. I told them that my confirmation says adjoining and not connecting. Each person I have talked to told me it didn't make a difference, they are the same thing. Now, I know they are not. I tried to tell them that, too.

So, my question is: How many people have requested connecting rooms, and actually got them? How about adjoining rooms, were your rooms beside or across the hall from eachother? Anyone request either adjoining or connecting and end up in completely different locations?

It's really no big deal if we get connecting rooms or not, it would just be a preference.

Any suggestions? Should I just keep calling back to see if I can get a CM who knows the difference between adjoining/connecting?

I think it's just terminology. I have requested connecting rooms twice and have gotten them both times. The word "adjoining" also appeared on my confirmation, but I assumed at the time that it was just the term they use meaning the same thing. You and I both know the two words are not the same by definition, but I think they are acknowledging your request. I don't think you have anything to worry about. Hope you have a wonderful trip!

I have gone with a large family (our four children, my DH and another adult relative) and have learned that the best way to beat them at the connecting room game is to tell them only two adults are in the party. When you have only two adults in a party that is a family, they guarantee "connecting" rooms. When I am checking in, I let them know that I have someone else with me who decided to come along. The CM's at check in just add the name on.
I have to admit that I have never seen the phrase adjoining rooms used. I have had "connecting guaranteed" written on my reservation form when only two adults are in the party. I have had "connecting requested" when I have told them about more than two adults in advance.

Thanks everyone. I'll try to call CRO sometime and explain my situation and try to get them to change the request. Otherwise, I'll just fax the requests to the resort a few days before we leave.
