Adjoining 2-bedrooms VS Grand Villa

We have a large group travelling down next fall, and am considering gettin 2 2-bedrooms instead of a Grand Villa. This comes out a better deal (at Boardwalk at least), and opens the possibility of staying at Beach Club in addition to Boardwalk and Old Key West (not really interested in SSR or Wild Lodge for this trip).

The extra private room would be nice, but you get smaller beds in many cases (twin vs Queen). Also, you lose the large living area. Also, how hard is it to get 2 2-bedrooms next to each other?????

Any opinions and advice would be greatly appreciated. We loved our last stay in a Grand Villa (OKW), but think we may be cramped this year (more adults and children).

Thanks!

Dave

at OKW you would get a king bed in the master, 2 queen beds in the second bedroom, and a queen sleeper sofa

at BWV you would get a king bed in the master, 1 queen bed and a double (full) sleeper sofa, and a queen sleeper sofa

where are you finding twin beds?

at OKW they will generally try to get everyone in the same building

I don't know how BWV would do this

I don't think you can get adjoining 2-bedrooms - you might - I just don't think so.

Dave,

With two 2-bedrooms you are getting two kitchens, two living rooms, two washers and dryers, two jacuzzis, etc.

I know at BCV you can get 2 2 bedrooms right next to each other. I think it would help to know how many people? The Grand Villa is nice because the whole group can sit at a kitchen table together. Are you planning on doing this?

The odds are against getting two 2BR's right next to each other. Chances are they will be near each other but not adjoining. I have requested this a couple of times and was only successful once in getting a studio next to a 2BR at the BWV. So if that's very important, the GV might be a better idea.

At OKW, when we have requested 2 2bedrooms near each other, they have been right next door, but require using a different staircase. It meant a lot of going up and down stairs, but it was fine. I love the OKW GVs. The bedrooms are very sizeable, and with 2 queen beds, 2 full size beds, 1 queen sleep sofa, and on king, there is plenty of sleeping space. When we have had kids that couldn't or wouldn't sleep together, we have taken the cushions from the sofa and used them on the floor for one kid.

We have a full house going, and will use every bed (and sofa) in the grand villa. This will make privacy and bathing quite an issue, but it is a family trip, and everyone will survive and enjoy it.

I am an OKW member, but we would like to stay at BCV or BWV due to the boardwalks extra feature (restaurants, ESPN etc). It will make evening activities much easier, and I'm willing to use the extra points.

Thanks for all of the advice. You've pretty much mirrored the plus's and minus's that I have been contemplating.

you mention travelling next fall. What month? BCV & BWV is difficult to get in October once the Food & Wine festival starts.

I don't think they will have a hard time getting two 2 bedroom units if they book right at the 7 month window. That assumes they don't have their hearts set on either standard view or guaranteed Boardwalk view. JMHO.

Best wishes -

we have stayed in a GV at OKW with 12 people and never had an issue with the bathrooms. There is one in each bedroom and another full one for the people on the couch. There is tons of space all around. The bedroom with the 2 queen beds is huge...you could fit another queen bed in there no problem..so if someone wanted to sleep alone an airmatress on the floor would be no problem.
