ADHD - onsite or offsite?

I have a ressie made for August at CSR, but I am wondering if onsite is the best choice? I'd love to hear from parents of ADHD kiddos, if they have a preference? On-site, off-site? Where?

TIA!

Onsite always. If I need to get back to the resort quickly because of a meltdown it is much harder to get there quickly if we are offsite. Also we tend to go back to the resort for a swim in the afternoon. This relaxes them and makes things easier when back in the park. When stressed or tired my DS's symptems were always more pronounced. If we are staying offsite it is much harder to come back to the parks afterwards. We like OKW because it is so relaxing there. AKV is also a good one for this reason.

I have one with ADHD and one with ADD and one who more than likely will also get the ADHD diagnosis but I won't have her tested until it affects her schooling. Anyway, we have done both onsite and off site and honestly I liked the space and the washer/dryer of the offsite place but the convenience of the onsite resorts. The onsite resorts are easier to get to and they have playgrounds and pools and other ways for the child with ADHD to burn some energy. If your child is needing an escape from the excitement of the park than it is really easier to get to the onsite resort and back to the park when the break is over.

Our last visit we stayed in the Cabins at Fort Wilderness and it was nice as the kids could go in the room and watch tv if needed or go to the playground or to the pool. We also had the deck and the area around the cabin in which they could run or hang out. My youngest, who has yet to be diagnosed, needs to run when she starts melting down or getting overstimulated. For some reason, running really helps her and the cabins made it easier for her to have room to run. I have only been to Ft Wilderness, Port Orleans Riverside, and POP. POP was actually the worst place for her.

We tend to rent an off site villa, we find the extra room, privacy and having our own pool a real plus point.
Also we could never spend the entire vacation in a hotel room, Joshua is such an early riser in the morning we feel more comfortable in a villa.
However, I would consider a split stay which is what we are doing the next time, a few days at a disney resort and then the remainder in a villa.
Bearing in mind being from the uk , we tend to come over for at least 2 weeks.

This is our very first trip to WDW but the main reason I chose to stay at Fort Wilderness is because of my DD10's needs. I know that every vacation we have ever had, the hotel staying vacations were always the worse, and camping always the best...actually, if I could live camping I would because she is the absolute BEST then. :rotfl: Having her own things and smells around her either in a cabin, our camper, or if we are tenting it plus being outside to think and explore and to be able to calm herself down do wonders for her. (Heck, for us all, lol.) ;) If I could always have the choice of bringing our little world with us so she can find somewhere to recover when needed I would probably never stay in a hotel again, lol. :thumbsup2
