Address for best spot to see Hollywood sign?

We're planning a day trip into LA during our visit next month and need to know what is considered the best spot to see/take pictures of the Hollywood sign. I'm mapping out the trip using MapQuest so if you can give me an address, that would be great.

3000 Canyon Lake Drive, Hollywood. Many places along Mulholland Dr. will also work.

If you want to get as close as possible to the Hollywood sign, go up Beachwood Drive. You can't even see the sign as a whole because you're so close; it's fantastic.

I'm sorry I don't have an address for you but I want to caution you against using MapQuest in the LA/Orange County area. It will lead you into non-accurate directions and routes that might not be direct to your destination. My advice would be to use either Google Maps or Yahoo Maps (never has led me astray).

I used to live on Beachwood and right in front of my apartment was a great view of the Hollywood sign. There were always tourists standing in the middle of the street taking pictures
