Really wanting to get some more BLT points (around 50-60) before they sell out.... help me walk away....lol. We own 100 BLT and won't get more until Oct. of 2013. Really want to go to Disney before then....arghhh!!

If you can afford it, go for it! We have about 18 add on contracts!:goodvibes

Sorry, but I'll be of little help. In the past 18 months we've purchased our first contract and then two more add ons.:cool1: Although we have a decent amount of points, it never seems to be enough.

The good news is that we're going to WDW often, the bad news is that I'm fighting the urge for another contract. We may transfer points in 2012 to tide us over for one year (without borrowing everything from 2013) to see if we really need one more contract or if we can catch up.... unless, of course, the right contract comes along in the meantime...:rolleyes1

Why not rent pts? It's a cheaper option and not as long term of a commitment.

Look for a transfer of points. That is what I did to put it at bay. I figured if I got about 90 more BLT points, it would be like buying a 45 point contract for two years. And, since they didn't come with the MF's, it works out.

Okay...well...if truth be told...it only worked for a few weeks...I ended up just deciding to add on at BWV via resale. I am in the process of closing now!

But, in theory, it is a good plan!!!!!:rotfl:

We are adding on now, closing on Sun. Our DVC guide just told us that BLT is going up to $150 soon, so we are trying to get in while we can.

I like transfers. if you don't konw you want the MF and extra points perm. You can get a transfer each yr, from a dis member.

I like it for a few reasons.
1) I can buy as many as I want, 100 or say 200.
2) I can choose the resort. Each yr could be different.
3) It is a temp solution, and I am not obligated to go multiple times a yr, but can while on transfered points.

If you know you will perm want the points, and you can easily afford the MF, buy..
If you are unsure, don't let saving 20$ a point scare you into buying. This is a sales persons goal, turn a product into a spontanous buy. Over the long run it is way more $$ for MF than initial buy in.

We're in the same boat as you. We just took family with us in May and have 50 points remaining for 2012. We want to go next April vacation and are so tempted at adding on so we can spring for a 1 bedroom and have points for a trip in 2013. We're always in "borrow" mode! Plus, after experiencing our first 2 bedroom it's going to be hard going back to a studio, so we'll need more points if we want to continue having atleast a 1 bedroom once a year during the 2 busiest times. Good luck!!! :thumbsup2

I wish I could talk you away from buying, but We started in 2009 with a contract of 250pts.
We added on in 2010 a contract for 125pts.
Then we added in May 2011 another 150pts.

Total 525pts! I need help, too!

We love traveling atleast once if not twice a year, and we prefer the 1br or 2br's.

Just wait for the right deal to come along.

Good luck, I know I didn't help you there.... Sorry.........

I'm afraid I'm not much help. We were out of 2011 and 2012 points so we just added on at BWV AND are wait listed (for over two months!) at BCV. At this point, I'm pretty much in the business of collecting points at each and every resort! ;)

Yes, Adonitis is a tough disease. Sometimes it consumes you. Sometimes you can just look at your maintenance bill and that brings some of us back to reality. I've been fighting it for many months. I watch resale like crazy looking for that "right" add on. I called again to one of the resale companies, but the last time I tried, they would not call me back, nor answer my emails. I swore never again, but some kind disboard member pointed me back to them again, so here I am, round two of waiting to see if I can snag the "perfect fit" contract. It's particularly hard when you are tied to your UY! Good luck OP!

Thanks all!! Still deciding what I will do..... and GF is not far off, right? ;) Would love to buy some points there as well. You're right about it being tough to resist, LOL! I am out of pts because I ended up using pts to cruise, ( I know not a good use of pts, but what with the Magic being practically in my back yard I couldn't resist!!) to book a 2 nighter anniversary cruise out of NYC in 2012 after DH said he would only want to go to the World about every other year. I'm working on him though!! We all had a great time at BLT this past July :)!

I hope you do a report about the 2 nighter. What a great little celebration that will be. If I knew about it ahead of time, I would have seen if I could have planned to be in Cape May and then just do a drive to the cruise port, and I think we really would have enjoyed the little get away. Somehow the news of that cruise slipped by me.

A 2-day cruise out of NYC? Now the wheels are turning :thumbsup2

Right on time for my wife's bday!:woohoo:

How much do points usually go for when transferring?

So if we buy in and are not sure if it is enough points after awhile but yet not sure we want to add on yet either we could do a transfer right?

I like the points made on this thread about how it is a temporary solution. I think we could use this to see if needing more points were really necessary all the time or not.

One transfer per year allowed right?

Thanks for any help! Still in research phase here!

Didn't think it would hit me so fast! Just closed in July for 200 points SSR. Got my work bonus yesterday and just added 50 more points:thumbsup2 Have already booked two trips and will do a big extended family one in 2013. Can't wait.
