I just went ahead and reserved a full-size rental for our trip with National using QuickRent. I think we got a decent rate of $113 for 6 days including all the fees, etc.

However, I did not see a place to add additional drivers. There was a little clause on the site that said you can add additional drivers at the time of rental but a fee may apply. Does anyone know how much it would cost to add me to our rental since I put the car in DH's name. He will be the one driving the most because he is a terrible navigator but it would be nice to have the option of me driving if needed.

Thanks!

I believe the charge is 5.00 per day plus applicable taxes and fees, it is on their website, btw, under FAQs.
If you are an EC member, there is no extra charge for additional drivers (of course there are exceptions to that rule), again, refer to the FAQ section.

Actually I didn't have to do anything special. The base rate on their site was only around $124 and then I used the contract ID for Wal-Mart customers and that brought it down to $113. I was thrilled with that rate and jumped right on it.

Thanks for the info on the additional driver. I really would have expected a place to enter an additional driver during the reservation process.

Thanks!

I called National and was told there was no charge for additional drivers if you are EC member

They don't ask for additional drivers anywhere on their site. Odd, isn't it?
It is a nice rate, btw.

Quick rent is not an EC thing. I believe I said that EC members were not charged for some extra drivers. There are exceptions, btw.
