:confused3 I tried to find the answer but so many were out dated. We are staying AKV in March, added the DDP prior to the prepayment date(we will be paying at check in) My question is, will it be okay to add someone to our reservation at checkin and get her the DDP too?
Thanks

No. The front desk can not make changes to the dining plan. Your only option would be to call MS and add them to the reservation. You will have to pay for the dining plan when you make that change. You can do this up to 48 hours prior to your arrival date.

You would need to add additional guests 48 hours before to get the dining plan - and since mid-October, the DDP must be paid for when it is added to the reservation - so if you add a guest now, the entire plan needs to be paid for at that time.

I'd call 2 days before you arrival to add your additional guest and be prepared to pay for the DDP at that time. In the past, guests could not be added at arrival.

Thanks for the quick replies....I figured worst case is call 48 hrs to add her:) But read about soooo many adding people at checkin and thought that would be easier IF it could be done since I rented the points. Could she be added to the reservation at checkin but not the DDP(I thought everyone had to be on it, and I want her to have it)? I could pay OOP for her if that is the case.
TIA

I'd just wait and try to do it at check in if it's a rental. Worst case scenario is they don't let you add the extra person to the DDP.

You can add a guest at check-in as long as you've not exceed the max for the room, but you *cannot* add the DDP. If the guest is added at check in, you'll have to pay OOP for her meals. They are now counting the number of guests on the dining plan at TS locations also- so if there are four guests at the table but only 3 listed on your card, then you can't use an extra credit either. If you know this guest is coming with you, then why not add her at 48 hours prior and pay for the DDP then?---Kathy

The reason I suggested to try it at check in for this situation (assuming they are OK if they say no) is that it's a rental. Thus they've got to work through the owner who contacts MS but they've also likely have to pay at that time so they'll likely have to pay the owner prior for most situations. It adds a significant element of risk to the transaction for the rentee and there's no guarantee the owner will be willing to do it even if they get paid first though I think most would if paid prior and most wouldn't if not paid prior. Given that they're willing to add and pay for the DDP for the other person, it's not a violation of the rules in place though it does again illustrate the catch 22 that the DDP creates.
