Adding RIV resale to direct : Does UY matter???

I could’ve swore I read for Riviera resale it does something a little weird and didn’t let you prioritize which contract to take from first and that it would pull points from the first contract of that resort purchased and essentially the way to fix this was to call MS. I know when borrowing it lets you specify which contract to pull from for the remaining points but idk if it does in this case? Can someone with RIV resale chime in?

It lets you use a RIV resale when booking RIV with another contract in your membership the same way it works for all others.

Obviously when I am booking something g else, the RIv contract doesn’t show up as an option but when booking RIV 7 months or less I get to decide which of my contracts to use since my other contract is a VGF one.

Basically, my RIV resale contract works the same way as my direct RIV contract when booking.

Another question for you.

How does the online reservation system work if a book a 200 point stay ant RIV and I have 175 resale points and 375 direct?

Can I choose to use all of my resale points first then dip into the direct points? Or does this situation require multiple reservations?

They function like all contracts. You simply put the resale contract first and the direct second.

The system will use all the resale first…unless you have banked or borrowed points on the direct contract.

Those will always be taken before they use up the current UY points from either contract

When I am booking RIV, the resale point work no different than any other points that I own in terms of making the reservation.

Thank you!

Love this forum y’all are the best!

Looking for some advice so that I can buy when resale contracts that fit come available. We have 250 direct @ RIV (SEP UY) and absolutely love staying there. Those 250 go pretty quickly even on studios. I'd like to add on points and am considering resale. We really don't plan on staying elsewhere so the resale restrictions don't bother me. SEP UY doesn't seem to come up often. Would it matter if I have a resale with another UY? How would that work when trying to time the 11 month booking window? Can't seem to get my head around it.

Also, if I find a SEP resale contract would the points all work together like one contract? I would assume if I wanted to stay elsewhere I could but only at the 7 month window using just the original 250 bought direct.

Any advice would be great! Thanks in advance!
Not ideal but with banking and borrowing and a single annual transfer per membership it isn’t terrible. At your 11 month window just use a single member id and borrow whatever you are missing or transfer/bank whatever is left over to your other membership id or next year.
Basically treat one account as your summer travel and the other account as your winter travel. Both accounts receive one annual transfer each so passing between each other isn’t terrible for any stays you want to do in the spring/fall seasons. Like everyone else says, keeping it simple keeps stress down and keeping stress down keeps you loving your dvc timeshare :-).
