(Excluding RIV)

We are already direct owners at VGF and are thinking about adding resale at BLT. We would be able to use the BLT resale points (only) at the 11 month mark, correct? Just clarifying before we pull the trigger.

Points never change home resorts, no matter what else you own. So, BLT at BLT, VGF at VGF, but at 7 months, you can combine them together for a trip anywhere (except RIV) as long as they are the same UY and same owners.

They can never take away the ability to use points at the home resort! That can never change or be modified. The only thing they can do is make the home resort period a different size.

Right now, we get a four month advantage to book before others...but we are only guaranteed one month advantage.

Also, thanks for your (and other seasoned members) advice! This message board has been a God send to me, since I joined in 2017.

Although my husband still responds to when I start a conversation, “Well someone said…..“ with “Is it one of your imaginary Disney internet friends?” 😂 😂 Although he just asked me to verify this question here….

Can they take away the ability we have currently to use resale points at other resorts (except Riv)? I.e. I have restricted SSR points that I can use everywhere but Riv and new resorts. Can they alter that again and say, "You can only use them at SSR from now on"? They may not do something like that, but are they legally allowed to do it?

The only way they can restrict someone to using points at their home resort is if that resort gets removed from BVTC...Right now, owners get to trade between the resorts because of that agreement. When RIV entered, it entered under different rules.

As long as SSR belongs part of BVTC, all owners...doesn't matter if they are direct or resale..have to be able to trade to the L14 resorts. If something happened and SSR got removed from BVTC...and there are very specific ways that can happen...not just because they decide...than all owners of SSR...won't matter if they are direct or resale...lose access to the other resorts.

Now, the extreme option...would be for BVTC to be dissolved, all resorts have no trading rights...and then each resort gets into a new agreement with someone to allow trades...which then could technically change the rules. But, that would be so difficult to achieve...that it would make no sense, because that would impact even direct points while the changes happened (but you asked about any legal ways)

Basically, all L14 resorts will always be able to trade with L14! But, I will add, they can add a fee for trades...they can create trading charts...and they can even have different rules for each of the different resorts...again, not very likely, but legally allowed. Those changes, though, can't differentiate between resale and direct...well, maybe the fee if DVD decided they would pay for it for certain owners.
