adding picture images to posts HELP!!!!

I am not sure if it is because I am using an older browser (Google), if it is because I have an older computer (6 years old), or if it is because I am not a very tec person but I can not seem to load images to my posts. The only option it gives me is to add the http address of the image. Even when I do that it does not seem to work. Of course adding the http adress is soooo long with capital letters, small case letters, numbers, and symbols that may be I am not putting it in right. Isn't there any way to add images that are sayed on your computer without having to add the http address? I also can not add smiles to my posts. When I try to do this is just shows the http adress instead, What am I do wrong? All you tec people out there please help.

You have to upload them to a photo sharing site like Photo Bucket. To add smilies, check to make sure that you have it set to on. At the bottom left of the page there's a box that says "Posting Rules" - it has to say "Smilies are On" for them to show up.

OK how do I up load to Photo Bucket and then how do I add them to the posts? When I go into the posts it only gives my the option to put in the http address. I did notice my HTML is maked off can that have anything to do with it? is on however. Any other advice?
I did noticed that about smiles a while back and when I did it at first it still did not work so I have not bottered with it since. I just tried it now to leave you an example of what it was doing and now it is making a liar out of me so I had to edit my post. But as far as loading the images I still need help.

You must first create an account for either photo bucket flickt, etc. Upload you pictures there first. Then when you post on here, simply paste the link to your picture in the image link box.

Oh shoot!!! You must have seen my post before I did the edit. I was hoping to avoid looking like a idot too late LOL!!!

You say "silmply" but you do not realize how computer disabbled I am LOL!!! I will give it a try and see what happens thanks so much!!! Actually you gave me an idea. Can I copy the http address and paste it to the image link box or would I have to have them on photo bucket. Could this info be on the picture which has been saved to my computer some where? I warned you what you were dealing with LOL!!!

Ok I am very stupid when it come to computers. I made it through organic chemistry with an A but can not seem to upload pics to PhotoBucket. Can some one please tell step by step how to do it?

Haven't used PhotoBucket, I use Imgur, but the steps should be similar.

Imgur: On the right, click "Computer" under the "Upload" section. Find the picture on your computer, click "Open". A small box will pop up with an option to "Start Upload", click on that. It will upload the picture, then show you a screen with it. Click on the picture, then click in the the address bar up top; if the whole address isn't automatically highlighted, press Ctrl and A at the same time to select all; once the whole address is highlighted, press Ctrl and C at the same time to copy it.

Come to your post on the DIS boards, click on the "Insert Image" link (or just type the img tags) and hit Ctrl and V at the same time to paste the address.

Voila!

Now that they are in my library I need help added them to the posts. when I hit the insert image icon in the options above when I am writting my post a box comes up and it says to please enter the URL of your image and starts with a http:// to add the address. I thought I could find this by going into properties from a right click on the photo but when I add the information after the http:// it does not work. What do I do with it and where do I find the URL? Is this how I am supose to add the pic? Some one said to copy and paste but it does not seem to be an option since when I bring the drop box for edit those option are darkened and not highlighted. any ideas? As in uploading the photos to photobucket I am sure it is something simple but I can not figure it out.

If you're getting the properties from the image that is on your computer, it will not work, because that is not an internet address, it is just an address on your computer (and will usually start with c: or d. You have to upload them to an image hosting website. The image that I used has the web address of http://i.imgur.com/bcl4pYW.jpg ... that is what you need to use in the "insert image" box that pops up. It will look like this in the post editing text box:

[.IMG]http://i.imgur.com/bcl4pYW.jpg[/IMG.]

But without the . in the img tags.

some how I did manage to figure it out. I found the address to copy on photobucket and it worked. Hopfully that continues even for my personal photos because I would like to post our pic from WDW when we return. If I have any other problems I will post. Thanks for everones help. Finding the right area to copy and the cltr v was ticket for me.
