Adding PH to base ticket - how much?

Can someone help me with the math of what it would cost me to add the PH option to my 4-day base ticket once I arrive in WDW?

I know that I should enter the park first and then add the PH option but I can't seem to find the price. I bought my 4-day base tickets at a discount from Boardwalk Ticketing so I'm getting confused about what the cost will be.

So, my 4-day base ticket for one person cost me $346.75. How much will the PH option be once I add it after I enter the park at WDW?

TIA!

On the Disney World website the price of a 4 day base ticket for one adult is $380.00 and the price of a 4 day park hopper is $455.00. That is a $75.00 difference. I am not sure if this is how it would be calculated at the parks, but hopefully it is a close estimate to give you an idea.

Thank you! I think I just figured that out before you posted. I think $75/ticket is correct.

1. Not necessary. Entering a park before upgrading does not affect the upgrade price, one way or the other.
2. It does not matter at all what you PAID for a discounter ticket (like BoardwalkTicketing.)
BUT, it DOES matter WHEN you bought the discounted ticket.
When DID you buy the ticket?

I bought the ticket in the beginning of January 2018.

I also have a followup question. We will definitely be adding on the Park Hopper option for our trip at the end of March. We are also taking a week long trip at the end of June. I am trying to decide if upgrading to an AP would be worth it for us.

If we did it without the AP, the cost of one adult ticket for our March trip would be $421.75 according to my calculations (4-day ticket with PH option). Then we would purchase a 4-day base ticket for June which is approximately $381 (discounted ticket right now). So total cost for one person would be $802.75.

The AP Platinum pass is $904.19 (includes tax) per person. So if my math is correct, it would cost about $100/person to add the AP.

Do you all think it's worth it, assuming my math is correct?

That will affect your upgrade price.
Ticket bought from an Authorized Reseller/Discounter:
Created BETWEEN Feb.12,2017 - Feb.11,2018

Find the full Disney 2017 price for the kind of ticket that you HAVE on the 2017 Price list HERE.
Subtract that 2017 price from the current 2018 full Disney price for the kind of ticket that you WANT. 2018 Price list HERE.
Pay that difference price for the upgrade.

$484.58 4-day Hopper CURRENT
-372.75 4-day Base 2017
=111.83 4-day Hopper Upgrade cost

All prices include tax

Ugh that stinks. So it would be about $111 per ticket to add PH.

Thanks for your help Robo. The math is confusing to me but I think I got it now.
It got confusing when they added expiration dates. In the past, the ticket you bought was the same ticket they were always selling, so the value of the ticket was always the current price. But now, you hold a ticket that expires at the end of 2018, but the ticket they’re selling is goo until the end of 2019. They’re no longer the same ticket. You get the value of a 2018 ticket applies towards your upgrade.

Decisions, decisions.

I'm waffling over whether or not to upgrade to the AP. We will definitely upgrade to park hoppers for our March trip, so we will have four day park hoppers.

For our trip in June, my parents are joining us and I don't think I want to park hop with them because it will be their first trip to WDW in 20 years and summer will be hot so we will take things slower. So we will likely do only 4 park days, one park per day.

I think I'd be saving about $200 total if I chose not to upgrade to an AP for my husband and myself. We cannot extend either trip and I don't see us visiting WDW again between March 2018 and March 2019.

@erin1715 Would it make sense for just one of you upgrade to an AP? Then at least you're eligible for the perks. You might save some money in the long run that way.

If you will be staying on-site, having the AP can possibly get you a pretty good room discount. Sometimes the room discounts will more than pay for the additional price you would pay for the AP upgrade. Just something to consider...

We're using our DVC points when we go in June so that won't help. But I appreciate the thought.

Yeah I'm thinking of doing that too. That way we could have the Memory Maker for the two trips and food discounts.

Are you a discount-qualified DVC member? You could upgrade to the gold pass at the end of your March trip (avoiding the blackout dates). That would likely save you a lot of money.

Unfortunately, no I am not discount-qualified. I'm one of the "others" lol. Purchased after they cut off the discounts to resale folks.
