Adding people to existing DVC reservation

Got a question about changing a reservation for the vets out there: my DW and DD are planning a trip in July of 2012. We are DVC members with 100 points at SSR as our home resort (we have 129 available for the vacation due to banked points). Our original plan was to book a studio at SSR 11 months out, then try to waitlist at another resort at 7.

However, we're thinking about bringing along the in-laws for our upcoming vacation. They literally have not taken a vacation in 34 years and we'd really be honored to be the ones to get them away for a while. The problem that we're running into is that we are looking a paying for their entire trip and we won't know if we will be able to do so until February 2012.

So here's my question: is it a big deal to book a studio for 2 (our DD will be 13 months old when we go), then later add 2 people to the reservation? We would still stay in a studio (which I know will be cramped, but it would allow us more days at WDW and with first timers and a baby, this is important to us), we'd just be adding 2 people to the reservation. Would they cancel the original reservation and create a new one? If so, how does that affect our points?

And here's a slight twist: at 7 months, we're looking at wailisting OKW in case they come with us so that we have 2 beds rather than a bed and a pull out. So our original reservation would be a studio at SSR, then changed to a studio at OKW, then changed to a studio at OKW, but for 4 adults instead of 2. Am I going to run into a problem with my banked points?

I know its sort of confusing, but we've only done 2 DVC trips so far and they both were straight forward. We did run into an issue with one of them and ended up losing 21 points- I don't want that to happen this time. Any help would be much appreciated!

There are no issues with adding parties to your reservation so long as you don't exceed occupancy limits for the villa. And there shouldn't be any issues with your banked points as long as you are planning to use them within the UY you banked them into. I agree that OKW would be better for you with 4 adults - I'm thinking you will probably be able to switch at the 7 month mark and won't have to worry about a waitlist.

You should be fine as planned. You won't be exceeding the occupancy and will also be fine when the wailtist comes thru for OKW.

Enjoy!

The other complicating factor is if you're doing the DDP. If so, I'd wait until late and after all is set before you proceed. Tickets are the other major cost and I've been beating my head agains the wall the last few days trying to decide how best to proceed with tickets for our upcoming trip.
