Adding people to ADR's

Ok, my wife and I are going with some friends to WDW the week after New Years. It will be a total of 8 people, including a baby. We have made ADR's at 'Ohana, Biergarten, and Sci Fi for dinners, Marrakesh for lunch (mostly CS lunches) and Tusker House, 1900 PF and Crystal Palace for Breakfast. There is a possibility now that another family (4) will be joining us. I know the "stock" answer is to add them asap to the ADR's, but it may be a while before we know for sure if they will be going or not. How realistic would it be to be able to add these folks to our ADR's, and when would a "Drop-dead" time be that we would absolutely have to add them by? We are really hoping they will be able to go, but the dad is in the Navy so getting leave may be an issue. Any advice would be helpful.

If it were me, I would add the extra people now. I expect that it would be easier to reduce the amount of people than it would be to add some once a restaurant is booked up.

Maybe you could make them seperate reservations that way you don't risk losing your table if you take them off and there are no table sizes for your current party size. At least if you all have the same time reservations you could travel together to the restaurant and possibly still get seated together. I know that didn't really answer your question but that's what I would do.

First, try and add them now. If you can't add them to your original reservation, then try for a separate table for them near the same time and ask for the reservations to be linked in the system if possible.

It is always easier to decrease your party size than to increase it. So, once you know the exact number that will be dining, call and then decrease it as necessary (or cancel the second reservation altogether).
