Of course I leave for my trip in 3 days and my cousin decides to bring his girlfriend - Now dining says I can't add her to my reservation. It would make 6 we currently have reservations for 5.

Should we just show up with her? I have heard that works. Does anyone know?

Thanks

My vote is yeah, it doesn't hurt to try. If they say no, they say no, but You can probably fit six people at any table for five.

Going up by one from an odd number of people to an even nuber of people, such as five to six, is never a problem. Restaurant tables are always designed for an even number of people, so both five and six would be seated at a table for six.

The problem is adding more than one person, or going from an even number of people up to an odd number; in this situation a larger table is required and they may all have reservations.

I would not even attempt to change the reservation, but just show up at the podium.

We had this happen on our trip two weeks ago. My sister decided to come for a few days during the trip after I made the ADRs and there was no way it was going to get it changed during the height of free dining. We just checked in at the podium, said we picked up an extra traveler along the way and were now a party of 7 instead of 6. The CMs never batted an eye. We waited wherever we went with every ADR, so I can't tell you if we actually waited longer on the two times we did this. But they will accomodate you, so don't even worry!

I am so glad to hear this...I thought I had remembered hearing that they really try to work something out. I also thought as mentioned above that going from a 5 to 6 was no big deal since we would probably be at a table of 6anyways :)

I am getting very excited - 2 days. Thanks for all your help!

One other thing that I have seen posted is that since many TS restaurants are already pretty crowded they can't just "pull up a chair".

That is exactly what they did for my sister. No one batted an eye at Via Napoli.

We actually have the same problem... We're leaving in a couple of days and my DSiL and her son are coming in a day earlier than expected. We have a reservation for the Hoop De Doo Revue for 8 Adults and 2 Children, and since one of the Adults canceled would only need to add 1 child (he's 7). I've called a few times trying to change the reservation with no luck. I've been debating about whether or not to just show up with him, because if worse comes to worse I can always hold my 18 month old son on my lap. I'm just not sure if it's a good idea to show up there with an extra person because it's such a huge hassle to get to if we're turned away. I figure with a pre-plated meal it's probably different than just showing up to a regular restaurant with 1 extra... What do you guys think?

We had to do this last year when my DSIL was able to get away at the last minute and we had to add him to every TS meal we had. No one seemed to find it any trouble, even at Le Cellier.
