We currently own at BCV. Now, we wish to add on AKV (we love AKV!):goodvibeswith hopes of experiencing concierge at some point. The add-on we are contemplating is for 100 points...do you think this is feasible with a studio stay or 1 bdr. We usually visit in summer months (July/Aug/ earlySept). My main concern is how does combining contracts work when booking when you own at two different resorts? I understand we should have the same UY to make things simpler. Is it confusing to handle? Any advice would be appreciated! TIA!!!

You can only use home resort points to book at 11 months. So, if you want concierge, you'll be trying to book it 11 months out with your AKV points.

PS. We have 6 home resorts and we usually book the main vacation 10-11 months out and then at 7 months we try to get additional rooms at whatever resort. For this 4 of July, I booked a 2 bedroom for ourselves and DS's family at BCV and a studio at BWV for DSis. Then at 7 months, I was able to move DSis to BCV so we're all together for the stay. So far, I have always been able to get all of the rooms at one resort, but I realize that may not always be possible in the future.

I was wondering the same question, but in the reverse. We own at AKV, but are in the market for a small BCV contract. I think the same UY will make it easier.
Bobbwoz, 6 home resorts! I am impressed! I think you have to be a rocket scientist to figure it all out.

It helps me to have the same UY for all. The one disadvantage is now that they have the one banking deadline. We do like to travel October through December and without the ability to bank anything if we can't make those reservations I feel more under pressure than I did when we first bought.

Once we did put a bid on a VWL resale with a different UY, but the offer was decline, and in the end, I was glad.

I hope you find the BCV resale you are looking for. We added on at BCV about 3-4 years ago when resales there were few and going for a premium. We bought direct and have enjoyed that resort immensely! You will too, I'm sure.

WOW Bobbi...6 resorts sounds like A LOT to juggle! Here I am worried about adding another on! Sounds like you are an expert and have been doing this for a while! I didn't think about the switching at the 7 month mark...thats an excellent point! We'll be at BCV for Labor Day weekend...can't wait! Have a great vacation the 4th!!!:wizard:

if you have 2 resorts under the same member number (i.e. both have to have the same UY and be titled the same) - you can pool the points together at 7 months out to book whatever is available.

if you have 2 resorts under the separate member numbers - at 7 months out, you can 1) book separate nights with each contract and ask MS to link the reservations (i.e. book 4 nights with BCV pts and 3 nights with AKV pts but you can't mix pts to book a single night at a resort) or else 2) transfer pts between the contracts to be able to pool pts together.

note that at 11 months out, you can book 4 nights (or whatever) at BCV with BCV pts, and 3 nights (or whatever) at AKV with AKV pts regardless of whether they are under the same member number or have the same UY.

We had points at Saratoga and OKW and wanted to stay in the Treehouses last year. I called at 11 months and booked as much as I could with my saratoga points. When 7 months came I called back and was able to add on the rest of the nights I wanted. I think in the meantime I had a room booked at OKW for the length of our trip that I canceled when I was able to get the rest of our stay at the Treehouses. We do not like to switch resorts - but we really wanted to try the treehouses and we were driving that trip so if we "had" to switch we could have done it easily. Normally if I know our dates far enough out I would book us at 11 months where I can and in a room we would be happy with and then at 7 months try to move our whole stay to a different location. If I can't get the whole stay then we stay where we are at. This past year we have been going on adult-only shorter trips so we have tried some different resorts.

OP - if you are looking for AKV Conceirge in summer (maining Magic Season), you'd probably want a bit over 100 points - 105 would give you Sun-Thu in a studio. Of course you could always bank and or borrow to get to that too.

Here are probably the most relevant (keep in mind these can change):

Magic season, AKV Club level Studio:
Sun-Thurs 21 points
Fri-Sat 24 points

1 BDR:

Sun-Thu 45
Fri-Sat 51

Definitely a good idea to have AKV points if wanting Club level! Remember, you can use up to 3 years' points, so you could do a full week in a studio in summer (153 points) with an add on of 51 points (but you'd be banking one year, using one and borrowing a third).
