Adding No Expire to a Disney Ticket?

Planning to go to Disney World in July 2010. Planning on spending 5 days at the parks. If I purchase 8 day tickets w/hopper/water fun with the No Expire add on, are the 3 days we don't use good 5 years later? What happens to the water fun add ons if we only use say one day at Magic Quest? Do the water fun unused days become No Expire too? New to the board. Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome! Yes the non-expiration passes are good forever but only the person who first uses the pass can continue to use it for it's life. Be sure to keep track of what's left on the ticket as it always seems I get them all confused when I get home. You can check what tickets have left on them at the ticket counters or at the resort desk. The "options" are good forever too. I typically buy a 10 day with hopper and extra's non-expiration pass every few trips to be able to use 1-2 of the extra's every trip.

I'm not sure what happens if you buy a child's non-expiring pass and the next time you go they're an adult. I think you would just have to pay the difference (but maybe not?). Passes to WDW have gone up at least once a year for the past several years so I figure I'm saving myself more money in the long run.

We bought a 10 day non-expiration ticket a few years ago. It entitles us to 10 days of park tickets and 10 entitlements of water park and more options. The first year we used only two park tickets. Last year, we used one park ticket and a water park option. We are hoping to return next year and may only use a water park option, hoping to get into the park with the volunteer opportunity ticket. It will be years before we use up these tickets. :thumbsup2 You may want to look into the 10 day option. As the cost difference between eight and ten day park tickets should be minimal. The water park option is a fixed rate regardless of days. But the cost of the non-expiration option varies by the number of days. Go to www.disneyworld.com and click the tickets only. It takes you to a spreadsheet of ticket and pricing options.

From this fabulous thread:

I am buying a ten day hopper with WPF&M and No Expire. What happens to the WPF&M entries when I use up all my major (theme) park days?

In effect you have two tickets with different privleges on one card. Since you have the NE option all the entitlements are good until they are used up. Even if you use up all your major park days, the WPF&M enries remain valid until used. (Note you do not have to use the days consecutively.)

You have ten days of access to the four major parks (AK, DHS, EC, MK), and may visit more than one major park on a single day without any extra charges. Without the Park Hopper option you can only go to one major park per day.

You have ten entries to the minor parks (BB, DQ, OT, TL, WWS). These may or may not be used on the same days as you go to the major parks. However, if you went to TL in the morning, Oak Trail Golf in the afternoon, and Disney Quest in the evening of one day you would have used three of the ten entries. (Note that leaving and returning to the same minor park on the same day does not use an extra entry.)

If you go to minor parks only on one day and do not go to a major park you do not use up one of your major park days.

If you were to go to a Water Park in the morning and then one of the major parks for the remainder of the day you would have used one minor park entry and one day of major park entry.

Just change the 10 to 8.

But I'd probably just buy a 10 day, if a future trip will be 5 days as well. If you have a future trip planned and you absolutely will ONLY use 3 days, that's fine, but people often have trips longer than that. And if you have to buy a new ticket to supplement the 3 days you'll have left on an 8 day...that's just not financially sound.

Upgrade from child to adult is free. Our son was upgraded a few months ago at the VWL for no charge. I kept questioning the guy and he said it is the one thing that Disney does free.....no charge for growing up.

This is true as we did it too. I bought my families 10 day NE tickets in 2005 at that time you only got 5 water park & fun days (whatever it's called:confused3) last year my DD was 10 so we upgraded and they changed to adult for free and she got more WP&F days cause the current 10 day ticket gets 10 WP&F days. So even though she only had 3 on her old pass left since the upgrade she has 8...we only used 2 days on the original ticket of the WP &F..anyway hope you get that. point is you get the upgrade to adult ticket for free as of now.

The cost to add the no-expiration option to an eight day ticket is 161.88, including tax. You pay for no-expiration based on the number of days on the ticket, not the number of days left when you add no-expiration. It is cheaper than a new 3-day MYW with WPFM ticket.

You have to upgrade your ticket within 14 days of first use, even if you add the no-expiration option. So, as bumbershoot said, it makes sense if you know your next trip will only be three days. You will not be able to add days to your tickets when you return in five years. If you decide to spend five days in the parks on your next trip, buying a new two day ticket to supplement will be $166 (current gate price - will almost certainly be higher in five years) plus $55 to add WPFM to that ticket if you want to.

It can make sense to add no-expiration to a multi-day ticket if you plan your trips so you are not using old and new tickets on the same trip.

We always get the 10 day NE with option tickets. They usually last us at least 3 trips, especially the WP options. Last time we used more extra option than we ever have in the past. We went to the waterparks 3 times and DQ once.
