Adding more people to a free dining package?

So my friend and I have booked our free dining package for December. My DH has also expressed interest in going with us, if he can find one of his friends that can go.

So my question is, how late is too late to add two extra people to a free dining package? I know the offer ends in mid-August, so after then would be too late. But before the package offer ends, if we already have our room/package reserved, will they allow us to add two extra people if the package happens to be sold out for that week?

I hope I'm making sense! I know when the deadlines are for normal changes, paying deposits, etc. I'm just not sure about adding two extra people to a room if they 'run out' of rooms for the free dining package!

I believe the cutoff is two weeks before your check in date.

Yeah, I wondered that, but what I'm worried about is that it is a free dining package. The cut off date to make reservations for that is mid-August. I'm just wondering how long we have to add more people for free dining. Until it runs out? Until mid-August? Is it still the regular time for changing reservations? So many questions! lol

As long as you don't want another room, you can add extra people. The free dining is attached to the room. If you have a reservation for two of you before the offer ends, you'll be fine.

Are you expecting to put a friend of DH in with your girlfriend? Or do you have two rooms already?

I think sharadoc's question was related to sleeping arrangements. You're going to Pop so 2 double beds. Will you and DH share a bed meaning your friend and DH's friend will share a bed? Will you and your friend share a bed meaning the two guys will share a bed? Are you sure your friend has agreed to share a small room with 2 other men, one of whom she may hardly know?

Free dining is just a code that's attached to your reservation. You can make changes to your reservation regarding the occupants of the room (with the exception of the lead guest) long after the deal expires. You'll be charged for the additional 2 tickets plus the extra adult fee of $10/adult/night for the 2 additional adults (plus any dining plan upcharge per person if you've upgrade to basic DDP from QSDP).

At the last minute, I started figuring out all the things we needed to plug in for the four of us; 4 cell phone chargers, 2 battery chargers for batteries for digital cameras, 2 contact lenses cleaners, 3 hair straighteners, and a laptop to download pictures, etc.

I grabbed a surge protector with as many outlets as I could find. We plugged it in at the table, and had enough outlets for everyone.

We added someone on our last trip after we arrived at our resort. Not a problem! You will just have to pay the extra fees as PP said.

another tip for multi-adults in a room-get those clear vinyl shoe storage things - the ones that come with the little over-the-door hooks & have a bazillion clear pockets. We hung it over the clothes rod in the bathroom area. A LIFE-SAVER for bathroom storage...everyone gets several pockets to stash all their shaving/toothbrushing/hairbrush/toiletries, etc. I found a cheapo one at Walmart for under $10 -- folds flat to about the size of a shirt so fits in luggage fine. Lack of sink/counter space is a pain in the values & mods--we loved having all the pockets to stash our stuff.

And we added an adult (3rd person) to our Free Dining package last year - no issues. They do charge extra on the room for the extra adults (when you go over 2 in a room) so that'll cost you. I think it was $15 per adult per night on the mods last year, value might be $10 per adult.

My brother and SIL and their DS2 have an adult couple booked with them in their room for late Sept, free dining at POR. Now, they (the friends) are unable to make it. We are still 60+ days out but my brother was told they couldn't remove them from the reservation. I know POR has no more FD availibility for their dates, but I thought they would just be modifying a reservation. Not needed to cancel and rebook it???

As of right now, they plan to remove the park tix from the kttw cards and use them for a later date. But they are also paying the extra 15$/nt/adult for the entire trip. If they can get them off they'd save ~$1000.00.

Anyone know for certain if they really can't take them off the reservation this far out? Or did they get a misinformed CM, and need to try back?

Wow, that doesn't sound right at all. I was under the impression that you could do anything you wanted to your reservation with no penalty as long as it was 45+ days out. And I'm pretty sure you can cancel even after the 45 day mark, it just costs around $100 for a cancellation fee. I would call back. That just really doesn't sound right. Especially since you're not even canceling the whole package, just removing two people from the reservation.

I'd make sure they were added in enough time to add them to the Dining Plan.

Adding them at check-in would not allow them to be on the Dining Plan and since it's free, you don't want to miss that!!!

that doesn't sound right.My TA took off my husband and daughter a few weeks ago and we are adding them back on before this trip. This bought me some more time to pay off the package.

If the friends name are the lead name on the reservation then it would have to be cancelled and rebooked. Otherwise you should be able to remove them. Have them call again and have the reservation modified.
