Can you add the Dining Plan on Check-in???

We are booked with Virgin (UK Travel agent) and they are charging a big % more than the official prices for both Tickets and the Dining Plan, so it would be far cheaper for us to add it at check-in, if this is permitted...........

I tried to book DDP at check in a couple years ago and we were told that we could not add it.

No I was told at least 2 days before but that was staying as DVC.

As it is booked with a UK travel agent, they do not release the booking details to Disney until 4 days before you arrive. This then leaves little time to plan our meals.

I dont' understand...if you are booked with Disney you are booked with Disney. No matter who puts the details in the computer. You need to be able to make your ADRs 6mths out. Just call up Disney, give your name and they'll have your ressie in the computer and tell them you want to add DDP.

If Disney doesn't have your ressie then how would you get a room?

Even if Disney doesn't have the reservation under your name, you can still call and do you ADRs. They just need a name and phone number for the ADRs. They will ask where you are staying, but you don't need a reservation number, or to have the DDP purchased.

Unfortunately the travel agent owns the reservation and only they can make changes to it. Disney has the reservation but it is in the name of the travel agent. Disney will allow you to make your own ADR's but won't let you change the package. That must be done by the travel agent who actually owns it untill you check in.

Everyone is correct you can't add it at check in...BTW why wouldn't you just either book your entire trip by calling Disney direct or right at Disneys web site? They make it so easy why would you go to a travel agent. If you have time call Disney direct make the ressie and then cancel the ressie with the agent.:confused3

You have more control of your ressie if you book directly through Disney. Makes it much easier if you need to make any changes.

in addition to what PPs have said, i would suggest posting on the UK planning board. they could probably offer more relative suggestions for travel agents, etc
:)

The OP probably booked a package through Virgin Holidays as it's the easiest way for us Brits to book.

OP you don't need to have a ressie number to book any ADR's just say you're from the UK and you'll be fine.

I totally agree about the charge for the DDP via Virgin but I'm afraid I don't know about adding it. As a PP said post this on the UK trip planning boards, there are loads of very helpful people there :thumbsup2
