Adding DDP and Tickets

I am trying to get my 10 posts so I can do PM's so I am sorry if this is a repeat I apologize in advance.

I am looking into renting DVC points next year for our trip. When can/do I add the DDP and or park tickets? Do I need to do this through the person I rent the points from or do I call WDW directly and add it to my reservation?

You will never be able to call Disney directly when renting. If you want the dining plan the member will need to add it. Right now they can add it anytime up to very soon before you leave but when the new system goes in place it will have to be paid for when added and many renters may not want to deal with doing that.

As far as park ticket go you can get them from anywhere but they would not be a part of your reservation.

I am trying to get prices for they whole family so they know how much to budget for. We are planning our trip for November 2011.
 
DVC won't know the price of the dining plan in Nov 2011 until sometime in Jan 2011 or Dec 2010 at the earliest. And, you never know, it might not be allowed at all in the future. But you will have to pay for it when it is added to your reservation. So be prepared to pay the member for that long before your reservation starts.

You can buy your park tickets anywhere you like. They are not tied to the dining plan.

The new system is supposed to go into effect this fall. According to what has been released, DVC members will be required to pay for the plan when it is added to the reservation. Right now, you add it ahead of time but don't pay until check in. That is changing.

The owner must add it to your reservation and it must be done at least 48 hours prior to the trip.

Of course, Disney can change the policy in how DVC reservations and the DDPs are handled.

As you begin to look for an owner to rent points, I would be sure that you ask them about their willingness to deal with the dining plan once it goes in to place.

Since right now people pay at check in, it is really no issue for the owner as all it takes is a phone call. However, once it has to be paid for ahead of time, there may be some owners who don't want to deal with it as they would then have to collect additional money from the renters, or do a three way call, etc.

Wow I didn't know about this change. I will be sure to check back in later this year to see about the new changes. I will keep my fingers crossed that I can find someone to rent from who will help me with that.
