I had our trip planned for May 4-12 at the Poly with DxDP and 9 day hoppers. We decided to leave on Sunday instead of Saturday since there weren't any direct flights in the evening and we didn't want "waste" Saturday. I bought the plane tickets yesterday and then got on the phone to Disney to add the extra day. I didn't anticipate that one extra day of the hotel (garden view) and dining was going to be over $700! Holy fark! I was in shock and actually sat on the computer pricing it out myeslf while the woman was gabbing (she was slower than snails) and trying to figure out what she was doing. I had her do the change since we had the spring special and I wanted to make sure we got that, but now I'm not sure what to do.
Our choices are:
1) Leave it like it is and suck up the extra $700+. Chalk it up to a stupid mistake of not checking to see how much the extra day was before booking airfare. *gulp*
2) Stay at the poly and change it to room only ($465) for the last night and not have the extra night of the dining plan on there. Just pay OOP and don't eat expensive meals.
3) Change resorts for the night on a room only. We can do a princess room at the POR for about $250 or so. We would not be on the dining plan. It's cheaper, but it's a hassle to change resorts. We would have to be packed on Saturday morning and I'm assuming that Disney would ship or luggage to POR for us. We would head to the parks and go there at or after dinner to check in. The kids would love the theme for sure as they saw the brochure in the mail. We would need to toss all of our fridge food that was left and wouldn't have any on Sunday morning. Pain, but might be worth the $500 savings. We wouldn't stay at a value. BTDT and don't want to do it again.
We can afford the extra $700, but we certainly don't WANT to since this is costing a fortune already. What would you do?
DH isn't much help because after talking to him (AT him was more like it) about it, he told me to stop and we'd talk about it in a few days. Basically, he has no opinion now, but when the time comes to pay the bill or change resorts, he'll have plenty to say.
