Adding a *room* to a ressie (booked under expired PIN offer)?

I've been reading about some DISers being able to make changes to ressies after the promotion they originally booked under, have expired. On a related note:

Has anyone been able to add a *room* to their ressie (booked with a discount offer which has expired)?

Has anyone been able to add a *day* in the same circumstances?

Since I've got concierge services with my ressie, should I try asking them, or just calling CRO and asking for Guest Services to try my luck?

(The reason: It turns out my aunt is coming, with her granddaughter, and so the best I could get them was a rack rate, MYW with dining for a Garden Wing - standard view. They're paying more than we are, for our deluxe room (used to be called a mini-suite?) in the Wing, with concierge service. It would be great if I could just (a) book two rooms with the same details; (b) better yet if I could add a night to extend the trip a bit. Four nights seems awfully short for this trip; our original plans included potentially driving down, and definitely having time out at Cocoa Beach/KSC.)

Read the link in my signature about changing a 40% off or Free Dining reservation. (Both codes have expired for new bookings)

If ANYONE can do this for you, it's Guest Services. The CM you first get on the phone will say no, ask politely if they can check with Guest Services for you on this.. some CM's are not familiar with this procedure so you sometimes must be insistent.

Guest services still may say no if there are no rooms available under the code. But if anyone can do it -- tis them!

Did it work for you? I ask out of curiosity because I also booked with the PIN code and just last week I decided to add on 2 nights and the CM added them on at the same rate with no questions asked. However, 2 days ago I decided to add on 1 more night, and this CM said he'd check to see if any rooms are available at my rate and then he said "none available" so I just said thank you and hung up. It was no big deal if I added on the 1 night, which is why I didn't press the issue any further.

I will be trying to do this within the next day or so. I'm booked at AKL 12/9 - 12/15. We've added a day to our trip and have booked a room at ASMo on 12/8/07. I'm gonna try to add the extra day at AKL on 12/8 and then cancel the ressie for ASMo. If they can't do it, then no biggie; we'll just keep the ASMo ressie and have them transfer our luggage to AKL down the road while we hit the parks. :)

It didn't work to add a room. I haven't tried adding a night, yet.
I'm kind of kicking myself for not making the separate 2 night ressie at a value which I'd originally thought of, back in Feb/March (The idea was that we'd spend 4-5 days at WDW, then 2 days on the Space Coast but honestly, I couldn't find any motels out there which looked as good or had as decent pricing as my PIN code for WDW value resorts. I figured DH could 'commute' to KSC for a couple of days, and I'd be in the parks, at Pop, etc. Then I never got around to booking those nights, as it looked like we wouldn't be going at all.)

I may try calling back to see if we can add just one night, assuming I can also add a night to my aunt's rack rate MYW package too. That way our last night will be at WDW, not a Buffalo airport hotel after an evening flight. (Just have to get clearance from the family, first!) I'd be game to try room-only ressies for that last night if needed, but no one else wants the hassle of double check outs, checkins and the risk of needing to switch rooms.

If you're using the 40% off PIN (with the 13 weeks throughout the year), you will probably have trouble with that -- the discount starts on Dec 9, so if you want your ressie to start on Dec 8, you'd probably end up with regular pricing for your whole ressie :-( You could try a separate, non-PIN code room only ressie at AKL on Dec 8, which would not be 'adding onto' a discount package).

Thanks RedRuby, i just got off the phone with guest relations and had no luck due to NO AVAILABILITY. :sad1: They are booked solid and no "standard" rooms are available at AKL on that date. Checked with reservations first and then got transferred to guest relations; no availability was the outcome of my call.

I don't have a problem with paying regular price for one night, i'm just trying to avoid a split stay at ASMo for the one night and then getting transferred to AKL.:upsidedow Oh well, i can rough it and stay at a Value resort for one night.:lmao:

I had no problem adding a night on the expired PIN with the reservations CM that answered the phone. I did not need to talk to Guest Services. Perhaps this statement does apply to adding a room.

I'm not keen on moving resorts since my aunt's rack rate ressie would be higher anywhere else, so I guess I'll just try calling back.

I had a Eureka! moment last night, and called CRO this morning to book a room only ressie for my husband and I at a value resort; we'd leave our luggage and our kids in my aunt's room for the last night, and reunite in the morning. I can handle rack rate at a value a lot easier than at the CR, and DH was willing to do a split stay in order to have a "date night" :-)

But I got some pixie dust instead. The bad news is that I had to give up on concierge class deluxe room, the good news is that I was able to get a five night reservation at CR (Garden room - garden view) on the PIN. We'll live without the pampering to have our whole group together, and to extend our vacation....

By the way, the CM didn't need Guest Services to find the rooms on the PIN code and book them. (I found this out because I was inadvertently disconnected by the first CM when he tried to put the Guest Services guy on the line -- and when I called back, the second CM looked for and booked the PIN code room without calling Guest Services. Not sure if that's because GS had already found the room or what, but it worked).

So, I guess my new Disney obsession will be to call daily to see if anything else opens up.;-) (Okay, probably not daily between now and October, *that* might actually *be* obsessive!) I'd downgrade to a Garden view - Standard since that would make it possible (not guaranteed) to have a connecting room with my aunt. And I'd gladly upgrade to just about any other room/suite at those rates!

I've found out it's impossible (as per the rules, not the technology itself...) to add a room to an expired PIN. That's because apparently a new reservation number would need to be made, and new ressies won't take the PIN. That said, I'm sure I read on the DISboards recently about someone having two rooms on the *same* reservation number. That's what I thought I'd be able to accomplish when calling Guest Services....

Ugh! I've been trying to add a night to the beginning or end of our upcoming free dining trip. I did as you said, asked to speak to guest services and once they put me through I basically got yelled at for doing so :confused3 She told me that the previous CM told me NO, there are NO rooms, why did I make her send me to guest services? Oh boy! She checked anyway and said see, NO rooms. Gotta love those grumpy CM's...wish I could've smacked her with a wand of pixie dust LOL

Ugh! is right. In cases like that -- when the CM is reluctant to send me to Guest Services, I thank them for their time and hang up. Then or later, I call back, speak to the different CM, and usually get a much better response. Most if not all the CMs I've spoken to, have <b>encouraged me</b> to call back regularly to check on availability*.

And, as the PIN code rooms were presumably much more limited than the public-code free dining discount, I'd hazard a guess that you have, mathematically speaking, a *better* chance of getting another night!

*Just this morning, when I was only trying to make a room only ressie, the CM immediately said he'd check the code (ZFZ) to see if I could get something for my whole stay instead. He basically chucked the process we were already almost finished, to call Guest Services and get help. Unfortunately, I was cut off when he tried to put Guest Services on the line directly -- but as soon as I called back, the new CM was also very helpful and found the ZFZ code room I needed right away.

Some people have varying degrees of luck.

If you get told yes.. great. No problem.

If you get told no.. Guest Relations can often help.

Clear as mud? :thumbsup2
