Earlier this year we had a package with tickets and dining and a 40% off room-only code came out. I called and they applied it to the room part of the package. Is this normal practice to apply a room-only code to the room portion of a package or do they really cancel your package and re-book as a room-only and add tickets and dining back (meaning you could loose your desired room )???? Thanks for your help.

Yes, this is normal because, even though the discount is to the room portion only, it is still a package. Packages can be modified, and don't need to be cancelled and re-booked.

However, just because the package can be modified doesn't necessarily mean that you can keep the same room. The room discount may not apply to the room you have, or may be sold out for the room you have, and you may have to make some changes to get the discount. Last year, I had to move from a standard room to a waterview room to get a discount.

Room only is not WDTC.
And WDTC sells the travel packages.
That is why they are handled as they are now.
