Adding a person to ADR

I made my ADRs at the 60 day mark, and now my dad has informed me he decided to come down to meet us 3 days earlier than planned. Which means we'll be short one person for 3 ADRs (dinner at Steakhouse 71, brunch at Topolino's, and dinner at Cali Grill). I've been trying to modify them with no success, so my question is, will I have better luck if I try calling and talking to a CM? Or will they possibly be able to accommodate us if we show up early and are willing to wait? I really don't want to miss out on these, but I also don't want to leave my dad behind.

If it makes a difference, we'll be 3 adults, 1 child and 1 infant.

Just from my experience, if you keep trying you'll probably eventually be able to move them. That would probably be your best/safest option. I also have experience showing up to California Grill with a last minute add (moving us from 4 adults to 5) and they easily accommodated us. Obviously your mileage may vary. It's going to depend heavily on how busy they are so showing up early would also be a strategy to help your chances.

You really won't know until you get there. You will be going from 4 in your party to 5 so might need a different table type. I'd keep watching for cancellations (use a reservation finder) and watch closely the last couple days ahead of time when a lot of stuff shakes loose.

I've been looking, and will setup an ADR finder (right now I have the ones through touring plans for a Space 220 reservation I wasn't able to get). We had luck getting a Topolino's ADR the day before during our last trip in November, so hopefully we'll luck out.

Good luck. we had this problem a few years ago. We ended stopping at the restaurant a day or 2 before and they were able to modify it. going online, talking to the front desk, concierge didn't.

Totally agree. Lots of popular places show up the day/ night before as people change plans & cancel adrs. But lots don’t. As for adding the extra when you check in, it really depends on the restaurant’s capacity at the day & time of your adr. We have been offered the option of adding “1” guest when checking in & also been offered the “0” option. Maybe also try looking for an adr for 1 or 2 near your adr time, then when checking in, ask to be seated together. But if you don’t find the extra adr, have a plan in case the extra guest is not allowed.

Going from 4 to 5 is harder than going from, say, 3 to 4. Keep trying, ask nicely at check in, but have a backup plan in case you're told no.

This question comes up a lot, and unfortunately every restaurant cannot handle "just one more" from everyone in your boat. Good luck!
