Adding a guest to room for partial stay

My husband and I are staying at POR for 12 nights over Christmas and New Years. We have someone that would like to stay with us for 6 of those nights. I called Disney and asked how I would go about adding her and I was told that, if I added her to the package, I would have to pay for her room, tickets, and DP for the entire 12 night stay.

The agent suggested that, when she arrives, to just let the front desk know and they will add her to the room for the specified nights, and she can then purchase her admission tickets, but that she wouldn't be able to get the DP. The agent said she would just pay for her meals as she goes.

Has anyone had these same circumstances? I'm concerned about just having her show up without being on the reservation. I'd hate for her to arrive only to find out that the agent had given me the wrong information. We have a room with 2 beds, so space won't be an issue.

Thanks!

Many people of done as the CM has indicated. The only issue would be if this person would need to use DME to get from MCO to WDW on the first day of your reservation.

Yes, she would need transportation. She'll be checking in with us but only staying the 6 nights. I wonder if I call DME they can tell me how to go about it.

I think DME will tell you she needs to be on your reservation. Good luck with that call. We have added a person to our reservation for part of our trip and it is not a problem with a room only ressie. It's only when you have a package that things get complicated. There is also an additional adult fee that will be added to your room for the nights she stays with you. I just didn't want you to be surprised by that.

I always end up being a few meals short when I do the DDP, so you could consider whether you would like to use the extra credits. You could also change all of the park tickets to 6 day tickets then add your additional days once you arrive.

OP- You can add the extra person to your reservation on the morning that person is scheduled to arrive, then call DME and let them know. That way, she would be able to use DME when she arrives at MCO.

Another thing to consider is that you will not be able to book FP+ for her at the 60 day mark. That would have to be done at 30 days out as long as her ticket is purchased in advance and linked in MDE.

Then you might need to see about adjusting your reservation somewhat or arranging separate transportation from the airport.

If you have free dining, then I would just change your tickets to the number of days the 3rd person would be staying and pay the additional adult fee for the days the person will not be there. Then those staying longer can add the additional days to their tickets and use any remaining DP options.

If you are paying for the dining plan, then you might also consider dropping the dining plan and paying out of pocket for food and adjusting the number of days for tickets. You could also see about splitting your reservation in 2 and having 1 reservation for 3 people for the first part of your stay and 1 reservation for 2 people for the balance.
