Adding a Guest (in person)

I have an ADR for 2 people to Space 220 lounge, but now may be in Epcot with one or two additional people. There are currently no reservations available to switch it to 3 or 4 people, so I thought about arriving and asking if they can accommodate either 3 or 4 (depending on how many we actually are) but being perfectly fine if they say it is not possible and skipping it.

My question is whether I would still pay a cancellation fee for the reservation for 2 if we don't stay and use it since we will have shown up in person to ask.

Once we joined some friends at Rose & Crown who'd had an ADR for 2 people and they asked at the podium if it was possible to be 4 and it was no problem. We would have skipped it and left them to their dinner without us had it not been possible, but it was nice that R&C could accommodate us. So I'm assuming that asking is ok.

Will you be showing up in person in accordance with the cancellation policy?
If so I would think you’d be fine.

You would essentially be cancelling last second so yeah I'd say you would pay the fee.
You might as well just cancel ahead of time if you're not gonna stay.
Its not likely that they can accommodate you if you don't see an ADR for 2 available.

Space 220 Lounge will be one of the very most difficult to do. If you go just before your ADR you will be within the cancellation charge window and yes, you should be charged. What you might try is go by the podium over 2 hours before your ADR. Ask them if they can add your friends. If not you can cancel without penalty.

The problem is adding 1 changes your party from a 2 top table to a 4 top. This can be a huge issue with the Lounge which has more 2’s than 4’s and is do massively popular. I would as soon as the desk opens and see what they can do. If there is no way you can accommodate your part of 3, you can cancel then without penalty.

Thanks to everyone for the input. I'll try to go past Space 220 more than 2 hours before our time and if they can't change us to 2 or 3, will cancel in good time.

Last time I was there, all the 4-tops in the lounge were empty, so I'm not sure they are really opening ADRs for those. I also know that people queue up to wait for possible lounge space without ADRs, so was hoping that if I cancel in person (even within the two-hour window), that they would just give my space to someone waiting and maybe not charge the fee.

I've also read that if you have a reservation for more people than you turn up with, they don't charge a fee for the missing diners.

People are lining up for (1) Restaurant reservations (2) Bar seating.

Lounge seating at tables is only available via ADR.

I know empty tables and the parameters at this restaurant seem strange to all of us but they def have a system for how many guests they want in each area. It is likely tied to guaranteeing driving tabs upward, and limitations due to staffing issues.

As @HopperFan stated, the line for waiting is for the restaurant and the bar. NOT the lounge which is ADR-only.

Correct, because someone is eating. But with 4 being such a challenge for the Lounge I can almost guarantee you parties of 1 or 2 are not booking for 3 or 4.
