Adding a guest after room booked

My brother is spending five days at Riverside during spring break with his family. Last week they decided to bring another guest making it 6 people though one is only 6 months old. Disney is telling them that they can't add a guest. Is this because they are only allowed 5 to a room? They were hoping that since one will be in a pack in play that they would only need one room.

How old are the other kids?

I think POR has an occupancy limit of 4 plus one infant, so they are likely over capacity unless they're in a larger, upgraded room. You should check on the Resorts forum.

Yes sorry this should be on the resort board, I was half asleep typing it. Hopefully a moderator can move this for me.

POR is 5 plus an infant if they have a room in Alligator Bayou. Not sure of the circumstances as to why Disney would say no.

I know the pull down bed in those rooms isn't intended for teens or adults. Maybe if all other guests but the 6 month old are over a certain age they don't allow it. I'm not sure if Riverside allows 5 adults to have a room together.

- POR and CBR have rooms that hold up to 5 adults plus an infant.

- Agree that most adults would not be comfortable on the fold down bunk but it is allowed.

2 Queen Beds and 1 Child-Size Pull Down Bed
Sleeps up to 5 Adults

OP
- If they fit within the above restrictions tell them to call back. MANY of the phone CMs are not fully educated.

Now maybe there are other issues you don't know about like maybe they are on a package but their friend doesn't want to be on the package, then they can not be added in advance.

Thanks for this. The ages are 2 adults plus 4 children ages of 14,14,11 and 6 months. They are all on a dinning plan and have 2 days of non park hopper tickets.

So they are adding a kid? And they want that kid on the Dining Plan and the same tickets?

If so I see no issue if they are at POR or CBR.

I just tried to book that combo of folks at POR and got -
2 Adults, 4 Children (14, 14, 11, Infant)
Booked without a problem.

Have them call back.

Yes they are just trying to add one kid and are getting all kinds of trouble. The CM they last spoke with wanted them to cancel and rebook in a family suite. I didn't think it would be a problem but came on here just in case I was missing something. Thanks.

You're definitely not missing something. Unfortunately they spoke to an uninformed CM.

Unless they booked a Royal Room. They only sleep four plus one under the age of three.

This is true.

But you would think a CM would then explain that to them
and say they would have to change their booking category,
rather than just tell them it can't be done.

That would be changing their booking category (without any further explanation - which would have been needed).

If I am adding someone to my room after booking (and not going over the capacity limits, of course) I usually just wait to add them until I arrive. Sometimes I'm only adding them for a night or two out of a ten night stay, so I just don't add them until they arrive. I have never called to add someone to a reservation that has already been booked. Granted, this might cause a problem if you are relying on Magical Express from the airport, as they person you are adding technically wouldn't have a reservation, but in my case, it's always been people driving in so that wasn't an issue.
