Adding a day?

Hi all, sorry for all the posts, but my #1 goal for visiting DLR at 7.5 months pregnant is to avoid running all over the place trying to get answers, so I'm trying to get them before I go ...

We currently have 3-day tickets that we got with a discount on Expedia. They're the park hoppers with Magic Mornings.Expedia gave us the vouchers that we take to the ticket booth to convert to tickets.

However, we realized that basically only leaves us 1 evening in the parks since we're having dinner at Napa Rose one evening, and we want to see all the nighttime things at DL (we've already seen WoC). So we're thinking of adding a 4th day so we can pop in just to see the fireworks or Fantasmic when we arrive on Thursday evening.

1. At WDW the existing ticket could be "bridged" before trading it in, to make worth the current gate price for the ticket instead of the price we paid. (That is, we paid $200 each, the current price for those 3-day tickets is $250 and the 4-day tickets are $275, so at WDW we'd pay $25 each to upgrade instead of $75.) Does DLR do it the same way? If we'd have to pay the full $75 each, we're not interested.

2. Is there a way to do this without entering the park? I wouldn't want to use up my first day just to find out that it's not possible to upgrade or it's too expensive (see #1). So if we could get to Guest Services without using an admission day, that would be better.

3. Assuming we don't upgrade and don't go to the park on Thursday (so we have only Saturday to see the fireworks/Fantasmic/the Small World thing), which do you recommend? We've seen both the WDW fireworks and WDW Fantasmic. We both love the fireworks and I love Fantasmic but DH doesn't; but I know the DL one is supposed to be better. (I know the park is open late and each has 2 shows, but I don't want to count on being able to keep going that long.)

1. I believe you will have to pay the $75. DLR uses the price you paid to figure the upgrade price :( (unless they've changed things recently--and I doubt it). That is of course assuming they know the price you paid, which they usually do.

2. Yes, you could check at guest services or even go to a ticket booth and have them check your ticket for the upgrade price.

3. When are you going? What is the Small World thing you're talking about--the Christmas overlay with extras on IASW? You can do the fireworks and Fantasmic on the same night if you're going when they're 2 Fantasmic shows. See the Fireworks, then make your way over to Fantasmic for the later show. You can do Fantasmic first and see the Fireworks from your Fantasmic spot, but if you want to be in front of the castle for the fireworks, you'll need to do the 2nd Fantasmic. DL Fantasmic IS better than WDW, but overall it's the same concept. If being in front of the castle for the fireworks is not a huge priority to you, and you want an earlier end, then I would suggest watching the fireworks from your Fantasmic spot. They pipe the music over there too. You'll have to decide what is more important to you.

1. :( I'm sorry to hear that. I don't see anything on the voucher that says how much we paid, but I guess it could be in the bar code.

2. Where is there a Guest Services outside the parks?

3. There's a "Magic, Memories & You* thing that projects images and photos on the façade of IASW with music. http://disneyland.disney.go.com/disneyland/magic-memories-you/ Not as big a "thing" as fireworks/Fantasmic, I assume, but we haven't seen it before.

3a. I *might* be able to stay conscious for two things, but three on one night is probably out of the question.

The holiday lighting at IASW is spectacular. It brought tears to my eyes the first time I saw it last year. We watched it from our preferred viewing spot for the Christmas parade so we actually got to see it several times and it was beautiful each time. Worth watching, for sure.
