Adding a day on free dining in middle of trip

We are going to WDW at the end of October- soon!!! Originally we were going for 15 days, be we ended up shortening it by a week and adding a cruise. ANYWAY, when planning, I keep coming up with "if we had one more day..." I am hesitant to add the extra day now since it is a Saturday (the first one in November so we are looking at heading into Jersey week) and the crowd calendar predictions are 7 and 8. We have young kids, so most likely we would want to go to MK. EP would be out because it will be too crowded due to the F&W festival. I don't know if we will want to go to AK or HS that day or if we would have done everything we wanted already in those parks. So my question is, if we decide mid-trip that we do want to stay an extra night AND there is a room available, will our free dining be extended for that extra night or no?

I would think that it would. My understanding is that as long as the check-in day is within the FD offer you'd get FD the whole time you are there. So if you have FD then you must be within the FD window and an extra day should have the FD as well. Or if your entire trip is within the FD winidow then I definitely see no reason why it wouldn't apply to your extra day.

The good thing about staying an extra day, even when the crowds are high, is that you have already alloted time to do everything you want and the extra day is just like a freebie! You don't have to neccessarily plan but go where you feel like that day. Do you have park hoppers? If so then you could do the morning at MK and if it gets too crowded head over to HS or AK. Or you could only do half a day at HS or AK since you might have done everything there you wanted but then have a nice early dinner at one of the resorts and then back to your hotel for a good night's sleep.

I know if I add the day now I get free dining still. The question comes in when we decide on day 5 of our trip that we want an extra day. So if in the middle of our vacation we add a day will they add on dining credits, too, or does that just work if you do it BEFORE your stay?

Not really following your post sorry but this is how free dining works.

FD has to be offered on the day you check in for you to get it the entire stay. IF you are checking in on a day that FD is not offered the only way to get FD is to do a split stay with 2 seperate reservations.

If you are adding a day mid trip (deciding the last minute to add a day) you would get free dining only if the offer is still available to the public. For example, if the booking deadline is Oct. 30th for FD and you decide on Dec. 3rd to add a day you will only get what the current offer is. You can not go back and apply an offer that has expired.

Hope it helps. Personlly we can never have to many days at WDW. If you have the time and $ I would book it.
