Adding a 6th day?

Apologies if this has already been answered somewhere else, but we currently have a 5 day pass and will be in CA for 11 days total (we plan to spilt the days at Disney up with relax/pool days). In the event that my family (me, spouse, kids 7&5) still wants more Disney after 5 days, is it possible to add a 6th day at the discounted rate?

No, five days is the max. Your options are to purchase an additional one-day ticket or upgrade to an annual pass.

There's no way to add a 6th day to a 5-day ticket. You have to buy a separate 1-day ticket.

That is disappointing!

Any idea why this would be the case? WDW has up to 10 day passes

I am thinking of contacting DL customer service to see if they will allow it.

I highly doubt contacting them, aside from them saying 'we'll pass along your feedback' will do any good.

This all began due to reselling of tickets - this was back when they sold 6 day tickets as well - people would buy a 6 day and then use a portion and resell it - that is also the reason they began taking people's pictures. One would think that would have ended the resale black market but a return to 6 day tickets or being able to add on a day never returned.

If you were to survey people though - most people do not even spend 5 days in the parks - and I am sure that Disney has done enough surveys to determine that while this might be something a few customers would want it's not a high enough percentage to change their practice.

Many were and remain disappointed that Disney did away with the 6 day option.

The only Disneyland tickets greater than 5 days I have heard of are ones for traveler's from New Zealand and Australia.

So if you have ID with a NZ or Aussie address you might be able to get your 6th day.
Otherwise you're in the same boat as the rest of us.

Enjoy your time at Disneyland....

I remember when they had 6 day parkhoppers, I still have the tickets from 2009, its too bad really cuz I think so many people would buy them

I was there last week. We had 4 day military salute tickets and bought an extra one day ticket because we wanted 5 days in the parks. We would have been fine with just the 4 day tickets. The extra day did allow us to see a few shows we might have missed in DL but other than that, we didn't need that extra day.

Strange they would remove this option. People are still in the park spending money.

I am just concerned that my kids may want “one more day” at Disney and not exactly excited about the price difference between the discounted rate per day and the full cost of 1 day. 😐

5 days may have to be enough....

I'd love to have the 6th day as well. During my years I did an AP (only twice), we'd always stay 6 or 7 days at the parks. That was really fun, because we'd do the normal two full day in each park, then the last hurrah day...then go back for the next two days while we might be adding something SoCal to the trip. You know, like a trip to Great Wolf Lodge and then do fireworks at DL that night, or something.

My suggestion: go to Universal instead. We just did the Annual Pass with them and it was a lot of fun. We went in June, and then again in November. We'd do two days in the park each time. They don't have nearly as much as Disney, but the kids loved Harry Potter and the new Jurassic ride.

Have you priced out the cost of an annual pass vs the one day pass?

I get your point about "but they'd be in the park for another day spending money" and honestly Disney has a strange business model - they have TOO many people in their parks - so I do think that the 5 day max is one way they try to control crowds.

This could be a good idea. Maybe fit that in the middle as I would like to end with the best: Disney 😁😁

I did for the Flex pass. So we could add this to our ticket at the end (last day) and not have to worry about scheduling those days then use the pass later??

Ahhhh, that makes sense.

Just a quick note on this even though it doesn’t apply to the OP. The 10 day parkhoppers available in NZ and Australia must be purchased in NZ and Australia. You cannot upgrade to this ticket at the parks. Same conditions apply to this ticket as most any other, you have 13 days to use it from your 1st day of entry. Not as good a value as it used to be either btw ☹. Cheapest I can see currently is A$763 up to A$836 (US$505 to $550) depending on dates.

For the OP, consider a day at Knott’s Berry Farm near Disney. It’s a great park with a lot of history and plenty of rides both big and small. One day tickets are generally well under $100.

The reason this poster was allowed to add an extra day was because he went from 4 days to 5 days. This is fine -- Disney sells up to 5 day tickets. But going beyond 5 days means buying extra, full price tickets -- up to the amount needed -- or buying an annual pass. If you decide to upgrade your tickets to annual passes, make sure to look at using your MM first (APs do not get MM). You can wait until your last day and upgrade before park closing -- but you won't get any AP discounts on food and merchandise on this trip. So check if those discounts would be worth upgrading earlier in your trip. And check the blockout dates vs. no blockout dates with tickets. If you will be returning for a another multi-day trip within a year, passes might work for you. But make sure that you will do at least one more trip. Otherwise, it might be safer to stick with the 5 day tickets.

This is our plan. As it currently stands, when we go in April, we have 5 day park hopper and on the last day (Dapper Day!) we will be upgrading to Flex AP with the plans to come again in November (extra nice after a 12 year break from the park!)

DH just realized that our flight doesn't leave until the evening of the next day, so we will be spending the departure morning at the park with our brand, shiny new Flex passes, since that is a "good to go" day.

As for "needing" a 6th day...

Growing up and as a teenager and early-20s-something, we always came down with the 5 day park hoppers. One of our last trips (before they did away with the 6 days) we added a 6th day, and that was fabulous.

No one probably NEEDS 6 days. Heck, no one really needs 5 days, probably. Most people can do almost everything in the park in a couple days. But we really enjoyed having that time to wander through, catch some shows, reride favourites... More Disney is better than not more Disney!

That being said, adding on Universal or Knotts or something else in the area is also a great option, as others have said, and for the money, probably more "bang for your buck".

Thank you for clarifying..

I guess if we do get the AP's it would definitely encourage us to go again :)

Gotcha. Considering my children are 7 & 5, much of this will hinge on their desire/ability after 5 days in the park.. If it were my spouse and I only, we would be 100% in!

One other clarification, if we upgraded to the Flex pass would our current 5 day be null and void (as in we would have to schedule days with the flex pass)??

I believe so, yes. For example, I'd wait to upgrade until you use your magic morning. You can apply the cost to it as long as you do it before you leave the park on your last day.

We did 5 days on our last trip and since the 6th day isn’t discounted we used that as an opportunity to go to Knott’s. Maybe consider a day at another theme park? Should tire the kids out enough!

Knott's is AMAZING. Just make sure your kids walk around the Ghost Town and take part of the activities they do there. There's always a skit about something stolen/robbing something that's actually done extremely well. They have some bigger rides too if your kids are into more thrills. Overall the park is insanely well kept.
