OK...here's the dilemma we started out with a 100 pt contract, found that it was way too small!, added another 100 pt contract at same BCV. Still not enuf for us (enuf said!)and for now, we are interested in adding another 100 pt contract at AKV. Would you recommend we buy thru resale (much cheaper approx $85/pp, but have fees) or go thru disney ($112 with cruise promo or $99 w/o cruise promo) BTW...that cruise promo looks real good!!! :lmao::lmao:Just wondering what others would/ or have done this? Thanks for the advice! :goodvibes

100 point add on through Disney would currently be $93.00 per point (it is a $19.00 discount) or it is $99.00 with the cruise.

To me, $93.00 per point is close enough to resale to make buying direct worth it.

Good luck!

I agree. With resale, you always have closing costs which will usually increase your point cost. (Meaning, add the total cost of the points, plus the closing costs and then divide by # of points.) Direct through Disney, there are none and you may be able to get 2008 points.

I would also suggest going through Disney. The cost is close enough plus the addition of the cruise is a great incentive.

Also there is not waiting for ROFR and you will have your points immediately!

$99 for 100 points with cruise or $93 without. Is the cruise worth $600. That is the decision to make on that. To by resale or direct is the other question.

$85 resale compared to the cruise option of $99 is $1,400. With the closing costs it might be an extra $500 so now is the cruise worth $900?

If you don't want the cruise then you have $85 plus $5 in closing costs for a total of $90 versus direct of $93. That is an easy decision.

With Disney your UY will match up and you will get '08 points! Looking for a 100 point resale with the same UY and banked points at $85 might be a little tougher. I would pay the extra and go through Disney!

We did this for another 100 points at AKV last month and went through Disney to get the 2008 points as well as the lower cost $93 (I don't want a 3 day cruise in a lower category than I am used to. I love my balcony.) The points are instantly in your account before the paperwork is even completed.

I did the add on last week at the Vacation As You Wish show. DH and I had already decided to add on at AKV. I already have the 100 points showing in our account (October UY) and was able to bank them, so I'll have 200 points on 10-1-09  We had debated on which way to go, we went with the $99 a point instead of the cruise.

I see your location is NYC. Something else you may want to consider is that a Disney is supposed to open a new Doorway to Dreams in your area.

I wouldn't be surprised if they have a special event in the near future.

I mention this because Disney's been having several events where the incentives are better than the current deals. The incentives at these events have been only for people attending.
No guarantees that they will have an event, but I seem to recall reading rumors that the next event after the BLT previews end in July, they will be in NYC.
